EQs are the most misunderstood and over-used area of DJ fundamentals. I see it all the time online and in my in-person lessons. That’s why the level of detail in my course is so high. This is where my knowledge as a music producer comes in, providing that extra level of detail needed to fully master and understand EQs. I use a visual equalizer to give in-depth detail on exactly how these 3 bands affect the range of frequency, something that you won’t find in any other online DJ course.

Have you ever challenged yourself to try something different on the decks?⁠ ⁠ Here’s a creative DJ technique to experiment with: metric modulation using loops.⁠ ⁠ Set a 1.5 beat loop on a hot cue and trigger it during your mix. This loop drill helps develop your sense of rhythm by repeating 1 bar of music over and over so you can lock into the groove. While the bar loops, you can practice different techniques between each cycle: • Scratches • Cuts • Baby scratches • Transformers • Or simply practice your timing Scratching isn’t required — but it’s definitely the icing on the cake. 🎵 Music Theory Quick Gem A bar = 4 beats of music. These bars are the building blocks of every song. Most song sections are structured in: • 4 Bars • 8 Bars • 16 Bars So when an artist says they wrote 16 bars, they’re talking about 16 measures of music. That structure forms the intro, verse, chorus, hook, and bridge of a track. Congrats… you just leveled up your DJ music theory knowledge.
