Hold for 10 seconds, breathing naturally. 4. Switch sides: opposite arm & leg extend out, hold for 10 seconds. Beginner tip: Start with just leg extension, add arm when ready! Extend one arm forward and the opposite leg back, keeping your spine neutral. 🔵3. Engage your core to stay steady. 🔵4. Hold at full extension for a second, then return to the start. 🔵5. Alternate sides. . Bird Dog Regression: 1. Extend one leg back, keeping your spine neutral. Alternate sides. . Bird Dog Progressions: 🟠1. a. Elevated Bird Dog - single leg only – Lift both knees off the ground for a hover, adding difficulty to the core and upper body. 🟠1. b. Elevated Bird Dog – Lift both knees off the ground for a hover, adding difficulty to the core and upper body. 🟠2. Hold a Dumbbell – Add weight to your extending hand for increased shoulder and core engagement. 🟠3. Knee Taps – As you bring your hand and knee back, tap them together under your body before extending again. 🟠4. Stability Ball Bird Dog – Perform the Bird Dog with your knees on a stability ball to challenge balance and core stability even more. . The Bird Dog is one of the best exercises for rebuilding core control and spinal stability🐦🐶 But only if it’s performed correctly. Focus on: • keeping your spine stable • slow, controlled movement • activating the glutes and core How to perform the Bird Dog: Palms under shoulders, knees under hips. Rotate your elbows slightly inward to reduce pressure on the wrists. Brace your core (like a small cough). Keep your spine neutral and eyes looking down. Lift the opposite arm and leg without rotating the pelvis. Flex your foot to activate the glutes. Inhale as you lift. Exhale as elbow and knee meet.
