Doing nothing is really hard for puppies.. By tethering them to a safe area near their crate, we’re helping them slow down without distractions. This gives your puppy: • a space to unwind • the chance to practise settling • guidance on how to do nothing When movement and choices are limited in a calm way, they learn to regulate themselves and over time, many will choose to take themselves to their crate to rest. Settling isn’t taught by tiring them out. It’s taught by giving them the space and support to switch off. 🐾🐶 When tethering and training supervision of the puppy is non-negotiable for safety.

We noticed something interesting with Joey 🐾 He would fall asleep in one spot… and a few hours later, quietly move to another 💤➡️🐶 At first, we thought he wasn’t settling properly. We wondered if something was uncomfortable or bothering him. But as we started observing more closely, we realised — this behaviour is actually very natural. Dogs change sleeping spots for a few important reasons 👇 • Temperature regulation 🌡️ Dogs move between cooler and warmer surfaces to keep their body comfortable. • Awareness & safety instinct 👀 Changing spots allows them to stay aware of sounds, movement, and activity around them. • Instinctive behaviour 🧠 In the wild, staying in one place for too long wasn’t safe that instinct still exists. • Mental comfort 🤍 Sometimes they simply choose the spot that feels right at that moment. So no : it’s not restlessness. And it’s not discomfort. It’s regulation. Once we understood this, we stopped worrying and started observing 🐶 And that made things calmer for Joey and for us. Sometimes, understanding behaviour brings more peace than trying to fix it 🐾 [why dogs sleep near the door, dog sleeping habits, dog instincts explained, dog behaviour meanings, pet behaviour, dog life, puppy life, dog behaviour, dog psychology, pet parenting, dog reels, reels india] Tags 🏷️ #DogBehaviour #DogInstincts #DogHabits #dogpsychology #reelsindia

Your dog isn’t naughty. They’re often overstimulated. Calm doesn’t come from constant play, pressure, or correction. It comes from environment, structure, and safety. Calm creates calm. And the right environment matters. ##dogdaycare #dogbehaviour #calmdogs #dogwelfare

Want to stop your dog from jumping up on people? Here are four steps to help—straightforward and dog-friendly! More…⬇️ 1️⃣ Prevention is key: Prevent them from practicing the jumping in the first place—keep them on a lead or in a crate when guests first arrive, or use a training line outdoors. 2️⃣ No accidental rewards: The moment they jump, turn away and remove your attention. No eye contact! If they jump on others, interrupt gently. 3️⃣ Teach an alternative behaviour: Ask them to sit to say hello. They can’t sit and jump at the same time! 4️⃣ Introduce an ‘off’ cue: Teach them an ‘off’ command to guide them down and reward them with your attention when they get it right. Happy training! Let’s keep those paws politely on the floor. #dogbehaviourist #dogtraining #dogbehaviour

If your teenage dog is driving you round the bend right now, barking, zooming, reacting, unable to settle, you almost definitely don’t need to add more exercise or more training 🤔 Those behaviours aren’t signs of a dog who needs more activity. They’re signs of a dog who’s overloaded and overtired 😴 🪫 When dogs are running on empty, they can’t make good choices, and they definitely can’t learn. More activity just stacks stress on stress. 👉 If your dog is struggling to switch off, reacting on walks, or seems constantly “on,” those are red flags for not enough rest. 👉 Many adolescent dogs need around 18 hours of sleep in 24 and without it, behaviour and learning start to fall apart. It’s easy to focus on making sure a puppy gets enough sleep, but as dogs grow into adolescence, that priority often slips — even though they still need huge amounts of rest. Every dog’s rest will look different. It might mean: 🩵 Time in a crate or pen 🩵 Quiet time in another room 🩵 Structured rest between activities A structured routine, breed-specific support, and the right kind of enrichment can all make it easier for your dog to relax and get the rest they need, but it’s never one-size-fits-all. Every dog’s version of calm looks a little different 🐾 You can’t out-train tiredness. You can’t out-walk stress. You have to meet the most basic needs first, and that’s where everything starts to improve. If this feels impossible right now, you don’t have to figure it out alone, you can work with me through the link in my bio 🌙💤 And ofc, training and exercise are still *super* important for your teen dog’s wellbeing and behaviour but it’s all about the right training and the right exercise, not the quantity 👌🏼 #dogbehaviour #dogtraining #goldenretriever #puppytraining #dogbodylanguage #dogenrichment #positivereinforcement #dogbehavior #forcefreetraining #dogtrainingtips

Did you know a 20-minute “sniffari” is like an hour’s workout for your dog? 🐾 Here’s the fun breakdown of their breathing rates: • When resting, dogs breathe at about 30 BPM. • Walking brings it up to around 60 BPM. • Running can push it to about 90 BPM. • And sniffing? It can hit a lively 150 BPM, making it super stimulating and a big dopamine boost! So it’s a perfect activity for puppies, seniors, or any dog needing a gentle but enriching outing.
