Our first hammock morning 18 months ago. Here are our top “need-to-know” tips for a great hammock night. Learned by own experience and with help from other hammockers 🌳😊 1. Make sure your hammock is long enough. Ideally around 3.3–3.5 meters. That makes it much easier to find the diagonal sweet spot and get a ”flat”, comfortable lay. 2. Find two trees about 4.5–5.5 meters apart. Attach your tree huggers around 1.7 meters above the ground. The height may need adjusting depending on the distance between the trees and the length of your hammock. The head end should be slightly lower than the foot end. Aim for about a 30-degree angle on your suspension straps. When you sit down, you should be able to reach the ground with your feet. Your ridgeline should feel fairly tight. Directly adjust everything properly, not in the middle of the night. 3. Stay warm. Make sure you have enough under insulation — either a sleeping pad or an underquilt (UQ). It is easier to make it more comfortable with an UQ. In winter, a hot water bottle can keep you warm for hours. Do some light exercise before going to sleep and eat or drink something warm. Extra: Have fun. Make mistakes and learn from them. Ask others how they do it. You don’t need fancy gear — just go out and enjoy nature. . . #hammock #hammocklife #hängmatta #tips #outdoorlife
