KIDie Festivalsaison neigt sich dem Ende zu und danach erstmal Urlaub! Es sind viele neue Anfragen für den Schlagzeugunterricht reingekommen.
Falls ich jemanden vergessen haben sollte, bitte Bescheid geben! 🫡🧐
Momentan genieße ich etwas die freie Zeit ohne Unterricht an der Schlagzeugschule. Ab September plane ich wieder neue Unterrichtseinheiten. 🙏

Festival season is almost coming to an end – vacation time first! I’ve also received lots of new requests for drum lessons. If I missed anyone, please let me know. For now, I’m enjoying some free time without lessons at the drum school, and from September on I’ll start planning new lesson slots again.
Until then, there are still three more festivals – ciao!

STStory time! 📕
In summer 2024 I started taking drum lessons, no experience and what I believed was no musical ability. I started sharing the very imperfect process because I wanted you to know it’s okay to try new things and be bad at it / be a beginner.
Being a beginner can be uncomfy as hell. But it’s also a time of massive growth & fast improvement if you stick with it.
Over a year ago, my teacher gave me a drumless track and was like, “Your task is to create a complete song.” (He helped me a lot.)
It was *really REALLY* hard at first. I was still really new. I struggled with wanting things to sound “right” - like what does that even mean when you’re creating from scratch? I judged myself a lot for mistakes even though those ended up being the source of good ideas.
Basically, I found it challenging to be creative, to play and to let go. Metaphor for my life perhaps 🤣 but all the more reason it was so valuable.
The song evolved.
We added and refined.
I practiced a lot.
And finally it was ready to record this week!
Here it is! The full recording of my drum performance (yes I have hobbies besides 🏋️♀️!).
Sure I still hear imperfections but that’s okay. (Massive respect for studio musicians and their skills!)
18 months ago I was just starting out with drumsticks on the back of my living room chair and now I can play some of my favorite songs…and it turns out, create something unique.
Becoming a beginner again was humbling but the lessons have been many…and they continue to be.
I know it can be hard to find the courage to start something new. But it might just be one of the best gifts you can give yourself. And of course, it’s applicable to starting strength training.
Big thanks to my teacher @victorthedrummerguy for his patience and to @craigzielinski for encouraging me to put a drum kit (fitted with quiet heads and cymbals ofc) in our living room.
