Children under three don’t change behavior through explanations. They change behavior through structure. At this age, the job isn’t to process emotions in the moment. The job is to interrupt the behavior, apply a clear limit, and follow through calmly. When hitting happens, access ends. Not later. Not after discussion. Immediately. One line. One consequence. No negotiation. No eye contact. No emotional escalation. This is how children learn self-control before they’re capable of reasoning. And this is how parents build authority without yelling or overcorrecting. If you want less hitting, fewer power struggles, and a calmer home, you don’t need more words. You need cleaner systems. Limits teach what lectures cannot. 🎥 Remix of the original TikTok by: Ashley O’Sullivan (@ashleyosullivan_) #toddlerdiscipline #parentingwithpurpose #calmparenting #behavioralparenting #parentingleadership #gentleandfirm #earlychildhooddevelopment #parentingtools #familystructure #disciplinewithoutdrama #PurposedParenting #ParentingTips #ParentCoach #ParentSupport #ParentingCommunity #Parenting

Before age 3, the brain is wiring for focus, language, and confidence. If you miss this window, no amount of schooling can fully make up for it. Protect their attention. Build their words. Feed their courage. ⚠️ Ages 5-10 are crucial. 1️⃣ During this time, experiences and relationships in your child’s life shape their mentality and the way they see the world: 🔘 as a place full of opportunities or challenges 🔘 people as a source of inspiration or anxiety 🔘learning new skills as a journey of development or a struggle. 2️⃣ In this age span, parents still mean the whole world to their child. As they get closer to adolescence, they’ll start looking to friends and idols for examples. ✅ Now is the best time to help your child develop resilience, a growth mindset, communication skills, and emotional intelligence. 💬 Comment “LIFE” and I’ll send you a DM on how SavvyParent can help you raise a successful and happy child! #parents #parentingtips #childdevelopment #growthmindset #socialemotionalwellbeing #parentingcoach

When I posted this last year, I was overwhelmed by the sheer amount of parents that felt seen. It was thousands. 😭❤️ They felt like their child was not abnormal. But rather that they simply needed a little more time. Time to bake. Time to play. Time to simmer and deepen these newly forming pathways of self regulation and strong attention spans. The research on delaying formal education until age 6-7 is actually fascinating. Benefits are seen in emotional temperament, athletic performance and testing performance. Perhaps this information will empower parents on the fence to make bold decisions for their family. My hope is that we do not take age 5 as the basis of “school readiness” (at least in the U.S.)…but rather we encourage parents to trust their gut on when they believe their unique child is ready. Every child is an artist! They just need the right conditions to thrive. ➡️ Source: “The Gift of Time? In today’s fast-paced world, where everything is instantly available at our fingertips, the concerns about young children’s ability to concentrate are growing. Concentration is a skill - one that starts developing the moment a child is born. It can be improved and strengthened, but it does require effort. Studies suggest that constant distractions from technology and the rush of modern life, many children are struggling to focus for extended periods. As someone who’s worked in childcare most of their life, I truly believe it’s important, more than ever to slow down, create moments of calm, and help young children develop the concentration skills they need, for life. Every child is unique, and their development and personality varies, so it’s important to set realistic expectations for yourself and family ❤️ ————————————————————— 👉🏼Follow @thelittledreameruk.
