When his mother was six months pregnant with him, AJ was diagnosed with Down syndrome and esophageal atrisa, meaning that his esophagus had stopped growing. He was born at 37 weeks and 5 days via emergency C section. The only way that he was getting nutrition was through the umbilical cord. He then spent five months at Boston Children’s Hospital where he had a feeding tube put in place. He is currently still at Boston Children’s Hospital recovering from a procedure reconnecting a small piece of his small intestine to make his esophagus function and is doing an amazing job thanks to the care of the staff at the hospital! @bostonchildrens #instagood #reels #reel #igreels #instareels #feelgood #kidsofinstagram

🫷Before you schedule a c section for a “big baby” ⬇️ A few important things to know: • Third trimester ultrasounds are estimates and they can be off by a pound or more in either direction. • A “big baby” alone is not automatically a medical emergency or a reason for a C-section. • Many women birth 8, 9, even 10 lb babies vaginally. • True medical concerns (like poorly controlled gestational diabetes or signs of fetal distress) are a different conversation, and those deserve individualized care. The goal isn’t to avoid intervention at all costs, it’s to make an informed and confident choice, not a fear based choice. Before scheduling a C-section, consider asking: • How accurate is this weight estimate? • What percentile are we actually talking about? • Are there additional risk factors present? • What are the risks of waiting? • What would change your recommendation? Sometimes a C-section is absolutely the safest choice for mom and baby, but it’s important to remember that “big baby” is simply an estimate. ❤️ Save this for your third trimester 🤰 Mamas, what has your experience been if you were told your baby was measuring big? …scar massage, SPF and time (I owe you) Scar prevention essentials you need to know 👇 I wish I knew some of these tips sooner (especially after falling down a mountain in Switzerland, oh, and an emergency c section)! When healing takes a long time, it’s easy to forget the basics. Here’s a few tips below: FIRST: don’t do anything until the wound has closed up. If it’s still oozing, keep is clean and don’t suffocate it. THEN: once it is healed, start using a good quality scar tape (you can also use a silicone scar gel) ! I bought mine on amazon and used it for my c section with great results. Highly recommend being consistent with silicone scar tape! Applying gel daily or wearing tape regularly (often 8–12+ hours a day) gives the best results! LAST Always apply SPF! Such an important step, especially in areas often exposed to the sun. EXTRAS Scar massage helped me a lot with my c section scar, I also have been applying skincare consistently to my new and old masks and seen a great improvement. Hope this helps!
