The other day i visited the Entebbe zoo, the entrance costs 15 dollars for foreigners, that’s about 57,000UGX (it’s alot tho). They have Varieties of Animals and this was my first time of seeing most of them so my money didn’t go to waste. Uganda is investing massively in tourism. Luckily for me i met this cool guys who took me round the zoo for free, God bless them for me. They are two interns and their tutor Mrs Lyn. After the whole tour around the zoo i decided to chill by the beach side before leaving. Entebbe was my first stop in Uganda, mostly because that’s where the airport is. And NOT *that* airport (more on that below!). It’s a great place to settle for a couple of days before taking off on the rest of your adventures. I spent the morning and early afternoons exploring, before settling down with my computer for some remote work. Here’s how I spent 2 days as a Digital Nomad in Entebbe, Uganda Day 1: - Settle in, change money, get a Sim Card (if needed) - Visit Botanical Gardens. On their own, it’s nothing spectacular other than a hodge podge of flora. But the monkeys and storks and other birds there give this place a 10/10 on wildlife experiences. And for 10K UGX (negotiate!)/$3 it’s certainly worth it. - Explore town. People are so friendly, and Entebbe is so vibrant without the overwhelm of big cities like Kampala. There are some craft markers and zoos you can visit. - Enjoy the Lake. You can find a waterfront to relax at, or visit a “beachfront” bar for a drink! Day 2: - Shoebill Trekking excursion. This is a half day activity involving several bodas (motorbike) rides, boat rides and lots of bird sightings. The Shoebill is a nearly extinct bird that mostly lives in the swamps near Entebbe. Getting there and back is an experience of its own. I really wanted to visit the old Entebbe airport and the monument of the heroic rescue mission that was carried out there. Since it is now a VIP airport, you need to present a written request at the office, and they will notify you if you can visit. Due to timing, this didn’t work out for me. MY TIP is to do that first when you arrive (hit me up for details) giving yourself a timeframe to possibly visit it. ✨Save this post for your next trip to Entebbe, Uganda!
