After much indecision about where to live and various challenges and choices in love, these last weeks have seen a lot of change and it doesn’t seem like I’m the only one?! These birds and brush tools keep making their way to my copper plates and glass studies recently. It’s like I’m emerging from Winter stillness and the sticky decisions are opening up and flying to somewhere new. (Including my new stained glass piece which I’ll complete these coming weeks!) This new heron plate I’ll show completed later this week. I wanted to make it this time last year when similar things were coming up while I was in Japan and I was struggling to know how to land with some big decisions then too. Using my new favourite @m_coulanges etching tool on hard ground copper plate before etching in the acid bath and printing on my Victorian star wheel printing press! #etching #printmaking #drawing #intaglio

A little glimpse into the process of making and printing at Tetra pak intaglio print. Obviously it takes a lot longer than 1 min and is a lovely simple process using recycled materials and even possible to print on a pasta machine instead of an etching press. I love how immediate its is - have an idea - raid the recycling bin and start making! you can print multiple times with each plate but they are delicate so do start to fall apart - keeping the artwork special and rare. #jennymccabe #printmaker #tetrapakprinting

Where Pines Meet Power Pulling this print took longer than it might look. Each pass through the etching press happened as the light in the studio shifted; the sun setting a little more with every pull. I notice time most clearly during printing. The repetition, the waiting, the small adjustments. It’s not fast work, but that slowness feels tied to the image itself. Pines, birds, and power lines sharing the same space. #intaglioprintmaking #recycled #printstudio #contemporaryprintmaking
