Facepulls are one of my favourite shoulder health exercises. There are 2 ways of performing them and both of them are excellent. Method 1 facepulls to the neck. This strengthens the rear delts as well as the middle back muscles which are the rhomboids and middle trapezius. Regular rowing variations also train these muscles but with a facepull the objective is to raise the elbows high which turns off the lats and allows more focus on the middle back. Method 2 facepulls to the top of the head. This does everything in method 1 but also includes an external rotation component which strengthens 2 of the rotator cuff muscles. Some people perform these standing up but I prefer to do them seated on the floor as it allows for much more weight to be lifted using the target muscles. These 2 variations of the facepull have been a staple shoulder heath exercise for most of my career with great success and I perform them as the last exercise of upper body day 1-2 days per week for 3 sets of 15-25 and they leave my shoulders feeling nice and juicy, and if you’re not using them in your training, you should give them a try 💪 #facepulls #shouders #strengthsystem @strengthsystemonline
