Feadship and Lurssen are inarguably at the top of the pile when it comes to very large yachts. But opinions vary on who is actually number one. Historically, while Lurssen builds the larger more expensive yachts, Feadship is often given the nod for better finishing. Of course, opinions vary. I look at it like this. If you are ever in a room with someone who went to Princeton and someone who went to Harvard, and you ask them which school is better, one of them will give you some version of this answer: “At this level it’s really all the same.” And the other one will smile and nod politely. The $200M Superyacht ZEN vs…The world’s first Hydrogen… At 88.38m, ZEN is an exceptional Feadship, blending Dutch engineering with Italian elegance. Across five decks, she features a main-deck pool, forward Jacuzzi, expansive foredeck lounge, and a full-beam beach club with fold-out terraces. Accommodating up to 16 guests in 8 luxurious staterooms including a private owner’s deck with Jacuzzi and art studio; ZEN is serviced by a crew of 25 and equipped with a spa, cinema, helipad, and gym for an unrivaled yachting experience. BREAKTHROUGH represents the most significant brokerage deal in history and a true milestone in yachting. She is the world’s first hydrogen fuel cell superyacht, the largest Feadship ever built, and the largest yacht ever delivered in the Netherlands. Commissioned by Bill Gates, the groundbreaking hydrogen-powered vessel was sold in 2025 before ever being used to Canadian billionaire Patrick Dovigi. Measuring 118.8 meters (390 feet), BREAKTHROUGH runs on liquid hydrogen fuel cells, emitting only water vapor, with a hybrid diesel-electric system for extended range and backup power. 7 decks, 14 balconies, 7 swim platforms, an underwater lounge, infinity pool, cinema, basketball court, private hospital, and a spectacular four-story, townhouse-style interior redefining sustainable luxury at sea. What do you think?

A quiet revolution in the world of superyachts. Breakthrough, the 118-metre Feadship masterpiece reportedly commissioned by Bill Gates, is not just a $600M+ floating palace — it’s a statement about the future of luxury. Built by Feadship, Breakthrough is widely regarded as one of the most technologically advanced yachts ever created. Its defining feature is a pioneering hydrogen fuel cell system, allowing the vessel to operate with zero harmful emissions, releasing nothing but water vapor. In an industry often criticised for excess, this yacht quietly rewrote the rulebook. Despite the vision behind it, Gates reportedly never took delivery of the yacht. Instead, Breakthrough entered the market almost immediately after completion, instantly becoming one of the most talked-about listings in the ultra-luxury maritime world. Recent industry whispers suggest the yacht may have found a new owner, with Canadian billionaire Patrick Dovigi rumoured to be the buyer — a fitting continuation of its sustainability-driven story. Breakthrough isn’t about flash or spectacle. It represents a rare intersection of extreme wealth, cutting-edge engineering, and environmental responsibility. A superyacht not designed to impress crowds — but to quietly change the future of green luxury at sea. #TheTrillionaireLife Media: @ls_wolfe @supercarsteven #billgates #superyacht #miami #yacht

Meet Feadship 714, the 262-foot, estimated $175 million replacement for everyone’s favorite yacht “Sophia” ex “Faith.” She belongs to Lawrence Stroll, the Candian-born Aston Martin executive chairman and co-owner, who also owns the Aston Martin Formula One team. Stroll’s father introduced both Pierre Cardin and Ralph Lauren to the Canadian market. He brought his son up in the family business and when Lawrence turned 17 he turned over Pierre Cardin to him. A precocious talent and natural businessman, the younger Stroll grew the business successfully. At age 32 he found himself in a bidding war with Ralph Lauren (the man not the brand) over a car. Lauren got the car, but through the relationship they forged Stroll was able to grab the licensing rights to Ralph Lauren in Europe—this just as Ralph Lauren was exploding into the prepster juggernaut we know it as today. And that’s one way that Stroll ended up being worth $3.8 billion as of January 2025. Beyond fashion, Stroll is also known for his deep connection to the car world. His son Lance drives for his dad’s Formula One team—a move that has received criticism from some, but really, what else would you expect him to do? Stroll is an experienced yachtsman. He sold an older “Faith,” a 205-foot Feadship to Tommy Hilfiger. And his last boat, the 317-foot Feadship with ethereal lines drawn up by RWD, was sold to Canadian grocery baron Michael Laitifi for around $200M in 2020. The yacht you see here cruising through the canals of Holland looking like Godzilla in the flesh is that yacht’s replacement. Like her big sister she also has lines done by RWD, and while I haven’t had a moment to study her, I’m sure she is a beaut. My only real question is, Stroll’s net worth is reported to have increased by about a billion dollars in the past decade. Why’d he downsize? Video: @topyacht

There’s a reason @feadship is considered the gold standard in yachting. Built in the Netherlands and backed by generations of Dutch craftsmanship. Feadship yachts are entirely custom, no production lines, no shortcuts, no compromises. Every vessel is engineered, designed, and finished with an obsessive attention to detail that few can match. What truly sets them apart, though, is the way they treat people. From first-time owners to legacy clients, everyone gets the same respect, care, and hands-on involvement. The experience never changes only the yacht does. This isn’t just a shipyard. It’s a benchmark. And it’s what everyone else in yachting aspires to become. #bravo #belowdeck #captain #feadship #feadshipyachts

This is “Musashi” the 288-foot Feadship owned by Larry Ellison. On Sunday, Ellison was the world’s third richest man. On Monday, his net worth dropped by $22.6 billion, upon news that the Chinese had launched Deepseek, an AI program reportedly slapped together for $6 million, and which fully torpedoed the American AI sector’s claims to need hundreds of billions of dollars to develop similar technology. You could almost hear the whoosh from the collective fist pump of finance bros everywhere as they shouted “I knew those nerds didn’t need all that money!” Anyway, Ellison is still doing OK. He is now the world’s 5th richest man, as $22.6 billion only constituted 12% of his net worth. For me personally, I felt a twinge of schadenfreude at yesterday’s news—this despite it likely meaning a quicker proliferation of AI technology. As a writer and a creative, I view artificial intelligence as nothing but a plagiarism machine. As a man, I view AI the biggest scam foisted upon the human race this century (a long-held view that I think was at least partially vindicated yesterday). Simultaneously, I also see it as nothing short of an existential threat. Assuming AI is what they tell us it is, soon an entire generation of people will be put out of work, only a small percentage will be able to upskill to become coders or whatever, and the rest will be put on universal basic income—because the last time the government handed out free money it worked out so well for everyone. Future generations will not look back kindly on those that gleefully ushered in this technology.

Him and his brother turned $2M into $4B. This is “Lonian,” the 285-foot, $160M Feadship owned by former UFC owner Lorenzo Fertitta. (I posted about her support ship “Hodor” yesterday, in a post you’ve surely seen by now.) Fertitta comes from a long line of casino bosses. His family once ran the illegal books in Galveston before going legit. And his father Frank was instrumental in turning Las Vegas into what it is today. Lorenzo is perhaps best known for running the Ultimate Fighting Championship from 2001 to 2016 along with his brother Frank Fertitta III (who owned the slightly larger Feadship “Viva” before selling her to hedge fund king Ken Griffin in 2024). The Fertittas bought the UFC back when it was still considered to be “human cockfighting” by many—a term coined by Senator John McCain. The price was $2M. The league had been founded in 1993 by the Gracie family of Brazil as a marketing platform for the family business: Brazilian jiu jitsu. When the Fertittas took over, the UFC was still populated by violent but largely untrained—or at least one-dimensional—fighters. Bar brawlers and community-college-level wrestlers were in contention for championship belts. The Fertittas worked with various state athletic commissions to form a unified rule set, to make sure no one got their eyes gouged out or their beans kicked into orbit. The league soon took off, attracting better, more highly trained athletes, and turning out actual stars like Sunseeker 121 owner Conor McGregor. The Fertittas also installed childhood friend Dana White as CEO. Dana of course is most famous in yachting circles for chartering the 377-foot “Ahpo” for $2.8M/week. In the meantime the brothers also started a chain of 135 UFC Gyms across North America and Australia (one of which is where I started my own combat sports training many moons ago). In 2016 the Fertittas cashed out to the tune of $4B to an investment group led by talent agent Ari Emanuel. (Emanuel is the real-life inspiration for Jeremy Piven’s character Ari Gold on Entourage—one of the Fella’s favorite TV characters of all time). Fertitta took delivery of “Lonian” two years later.
