Did you know that there’s a type of fiber cable that sends signals through air? It’s called hollow core fiber and it’s exactly what it sounds like. In a normal fiber optic cable, the signals are sent as light through glass. But when you send light through glass it only travels at about two thirds the speed of light in a vacuum. Enter: Hollow Core Fiber Instead of glass, these fibers are hollow. Light travels through air - which means it gets a lot closer to the actual speed of light. This gives you up to 50% lower latency and a major bump in speed for data transmission. Companies like BT and Microsoft are already testing it: → AI clusters → Edge networks → Financial trading The technology is still developing, right now it’s more expensive and harder to manufacture . The light changes the exposed areas, making them easier to remove. This process creates detailed patterns on the wafer. These patterns serve as the foundation for building the processor’s circuits and components. By repeating this process with different designs and materials, multiple layers are added to create the tiny structures inside a processor. Finally, the wafer is processed and polished to form the CPU, the brain of your computer.
