For years, I didn’t understand men.
I was raised in a house with four sisters and a dad who traveled a lot, so I didn’t have many men around me to learn from. I had to figure things out the hard way in my own marriage… through disconnection, misunderstandings, and some really painful seasons where we felt more like roommates than partners.
But here’s what I’ve learned and what I wish every spouse knew:
1️⃣ Men are often simpler than we assume.
They want peace. They want to feel like they’re doing a good job. And deep down, they want to make you happy too.
2️⃣ A lot of conflict comes from overcomplicating what’s actually a simple need.
Most of the time, it’s not about the argument. It’s about feeling valued.
3️⃣ Respect hits different for men.
When a man feels respected, he tends to show up stronger by being more loving, more protective, more present.
4️⃣ Men are emotional too. They just process it differently.
Sometimes they shut down, go quiet, or get defensive not because they don’t care… but because they don’t feel safe or capable in that moment.
5️⃣ Men and women are different emotionally, mentally, energetically.
Expecting each other to react the same way sets both of you up to feel disappointed and alone.
💔 And here’s the truth:
Most marriages don’t fall apart because there’s no love.
They fall apart because the connection gets buried under stress, resentment, and the constant feeling of “we’re missing each other.”
But the good news?
That can be rebuilt.
Not by waiting for the other person to change first but by learning how to shift what’s happening between you.

THFunny how it’s not so over 10yrs ago but firstly I’m sharing this for young ones who may be dealing with this type of feeling privately and thinking it’s out of place.
It happens to the best of us, as a young lady you can be attracted to someone older than you.
I didn’t explore it, I just admired the person far away, got a bit close as the person was nice to me and I was already dreaming of future home sef😂.
More specifically, I can easily get over someone when attention dwindles and this may be for some, so here are practical ways to deal with it.
1. I reduced the attention I allowed him give me, sincerely you have to be the one to take responsibility for your emotions, cos some of them may just be nice and seeing you as aburo 😄, or enjoying the company at your expense.
2. Be bold to accept your feelings and stop living in denial(maybe this is first).
3. Talk to a female trusted friend or mentor, who can guide you on how to see it differently, someone who won’t judge you.
4. Remind yourself of your self worth and your worth in Christ- you are to be who God has chosen for you, and not who will play with your feelings or someone you are infatuating about.
5. Spend time with your female friends who has same values.
6. Take it as a lesson and write out what you are attracted to cos it’s a time you are finding yourself, sit with yourself not to make it an idol and let God still override your attractive desires.
7. Take responsibility for your emotions as a lady, no man will do that for you (saying this again). Guard your heart
8. Avoid songs/movies that put you in such mushy mood.

My stomach dropped. My ears were ringing.
I thought it was the end.
But what he really meant?
He felt like he had nothing left to give.
He loved me, but he was exhausted.
He felt like a failure.
And when someone feels like a failure, they retreat. They shut down.
That moment nearly broke us.

The signs are here ⬇️
1. No physical desire. His touch doesn’t make her heart race, it feels neutral or even unpleasant. Instead of excitement, she experiences detachment or discomfort.
2. Feeling drained around him. No matter how much she rests, she still feels emotionally and physically exhausted in his presence. With the right man, she would feel energized, not depleted.
3. Subconscious distance. She avoids getting too close crossing her arms, turning slightly away, or keeping physical space between them without even realizing it.
4. Unexplained mood swings. She experiences irritability, sadness, or frustration for no clear reason. Her emotions fluctuate, reacting to the stress her body senses before her mind fully understands why.
5. Troubled sleep. Rest doesn’t come easy. She tosses and turns, wakes up tired, or feels uneasy falling asleep next to him. Her subconscious is restless, sensing something is off.
6. Frequent aches and pains. Chronic headaches, tension in her neck, or a tight jaw, her body holds onto stress in ways she may not even notice.
7. Digestive discomfort. Nausea, bloating, or stomach issues become common. Stress affects digestion, and her body reacts to emotional unease.
8. Loss of spark. She stops wanting to dress up, wear makeup, or do things that used to make her feel beautiful. She doesn’t feel seen, appreciated, or inspired to glow.
9. Persistent anxiety. A subtle but constant sense of unease lingers racing thoughts, a tight chest, or an underlying nervous energy that doesn’t go away.
10. Life feels dull. Even when everything seems fine on the surface, something is missing. She feels emotionally numb, as if she’s just going through the motions rather than truly living.
11. Loss of emotional safety. She hesitates to fully express her thoughts or feelings.
Your body speaks before your mind understands. If you recognize several of these signs, listen to yourself, it might be time to make a change.

HOA truly unfortunate situation for this female green sea turtle.
Firstly, observing from a distance it looked like she had already passed. I jumped in for a closer examination to check for any signs of life. Unfortunately, there was no response or reflex.
**Please Note: I do NOT encourage touching or handling marine life. This was a rare situation where the turtle appeared unresponsive or deceased. With my background in Marine Biology and Veterinary Nursing, and years of experience working with sea turtles in rehabilitation, I checked for signs of life to assess whether she could be reported for rescue or further investigation. If you encounter wildlife like this, always contact the appropriate authorities.
There were no obvious signs explaining her death, her body condition looked good, with no visible injuries such as boat strike damage or signs of predation. She appeared freshly deceased and otherwise healthy. Without a necropsy, it’s very difficult to determine the cause.
Sea turtles can die from a range of natural and human-related causes, including disease, infection, plastic ingestion, or drowning.
Although we’ll never know for sure, boat strikes can cause internal trauma such as bleeding or fractures that aren’t always visible externally. It’s possible something like this occurred, but without further examination, we can’t know.
In hindsight, reporting it to authorities would have been valuable, as fresh turtle deaths can contribute to research and help track mortality. Unfortunately, we weren’t in the position to be able to do this and decided to leave her to the natural cycle.
A sad encounter but every observation helps us better understand and protect these incredible animals. It’s a good reminder of who we share these waters with and to be mindful of our impact. 💔🐢
