GBTutorial: Retro Tabletop Grass. Detailed instructions below…
What you will need:
* SAP Green (acrylic)
* Primary Yellow (acrylic)
* Titanium White (acrylic)
* Water
* Washing-up liquid
* Granulated cork
I bought my 0.2-0.5mm granulated cork from cork-shop.co.uk (not sponsored). It is super cheap and 1kg will last you a long time!
We’re going to make 3 shades of green which we will color the cork with; Light, Medium and Dark.
Light Green:
* 10ml Primary Yellow
* 2.5ml SAP green
* 2.5ml Titanium White
* 2.5ml Water
* 2.5ml Washing-up Liquid
Medium Green:
* 5ml SAP green
* 5ml Primary Yellow
* 5ml Titanium White
* 2.5ml Water
* 2.5ml Washing-up Liquid
Dark Green:
* 10ml SAP green
* 2.5ml Titanium White
* 2.5ml Water
* 2.5ml Washing-up Liquid
1. Begin by pouring the ingredients to one of the shades into a plastic cup. Mix it thoroughly before adding 1dl of Granulated Cork. Spend some time mixing it until all grains have paint on them and there aren’t any lumps of paint left when you are done.
2. Pour the mix onto a baking tray and spread it out evenly. While doing this, press any lumps of paint into the paper, otherwise these will make the grains stick together.
3. Roast in oven for 4 minutes at 50°C. Remove from oven and separate the grains by pressing them into the paper using your hands. Repeat this step until you don’t have any paint on your hands after rubbing it. This usually takes 3 or 4 times in the oven.
4. Sieve the mix into a bowl.
5. Repeat previous steps (1-4) for the other shades and mix them together using the following ratio:
2 Medium Green
1 Light Green
1 Dark Green
Apply to surface using PVA glue. Once the glue has dried, mix 1 part PVA glue to 10 parts water in a spray bottle and cover the surface to strengthen the grass when handling.
