INCREDIBLE. Near constant lightning illuminates the storm that produced a deadly tornado near Enderlin, ND last night. I'm not sure I've seen such an ominous, massive wall of circulation. It's hard to see the full scope with the trees and structures blocking part of the view, but this is the mesocyclone, the rotating part of the storm that produces the tornado. Officials who did a grid search of the damage area overnight estimate the damage path to be about 3 miles wide and 6 miles long east of Enderlin. My heart goes out to the people in and around the Enderlin area today and in the coming days. Thank you to Eric Schultz who shared the video from Enderlin, ND. #VNLFirstAlert

🧐 Where did “full scope” come from? 🤨 The term full scope in some ways has felt silly to me. I even joked with some of my PT colleagues who thought it was weird that I was trying to distinguish my practice this way. They would ask, “Isn’t using the full scope of practice what every OT already does?” 😅 I wish that were true! But the reality is many OTs have yet to step into this identity. Now please hear this: I’m always continually learning what it means to practice to the fullness of the OT scope. 🙌🏼 I have so much to learn! But I do know that what I was taught in school and started out doing in practice wasn’t it 😒 It really wasn’t until I started stepping outside the bounds of traditional OT while remaining in our scope that I started experiencing the dreaded push back 😣 And I found many others in the world who experienced the same thing: opposition for simply exploring the potential of our full scope and to great effects with our patients. The experience of opposition is in many ways what has driven people to identify with this term “full scope”. We’ve been told by a variety of people that we can’t do XYZ when our scope says that we can. That’s why we use those words - our full scope actually supports this stuff! ✅ I hope there comes a day when this term is meaningless and full scope OT becomes synonymous with traditional OT practice.
