IN SEASON TRAINING 🏀 Not trying to focus on output here, more about restoring range through a variety of movement. I pick a couple of movements I’m proficient in and explore it in different ways - for example 3D lunge and adding load above, I always have an emphasis of multi planar movement. Whether it’s the same day or later in the week, the more you control the better you drive intent, more intent means better execution on the high output days. This is one of my favorite drills to make my hips feel buttery smooth instantly — like WD-40 to the Tinman. And if you’re not training your hips to the side, you don’t only lose balance, but important hip supports that help your back, knees, and hips feel strong. ➡️ If sitting in this position already causes your trail leg to cramp, elevate your lead hip on a pillow. When you’re in this position, you’re working your hip at its end range — which strengthens the muscles and improves the resilience of the connective tissues that support the joint. Loading tissues at these angles also lit-er-ally 👏 remodels joint tissue, and teaches your nervous system to feel safe there— which can reduce pinching, cramping, and injury risk over time. That’s the focus of the mobility training I practice and teach — Functional Range Conditioning. I strength train regularly. I love a good Yoga session. Pilates is absolutely incredible for stability and control. These are all beautiful practices I encourage you to do. But mobility training offers something the others don’t (because it’s not their primary goal) — building control and capacity at the deepest ranges of your joints. Your 80-year-old self will never regret the small investment that’ll pay dividends over your lifetime. Follow the program, take 20 min/day, and support your future self.

I felt broken once.....I was determined not to feel that way again. When you have a major injury ( L4/L5 Herniated disc) that affects your daily life in so many ways, you tend to rethink how you do things. I've always felt strong. But I was strong in the wrong ways. I thought I did the little things right, but it wasn't enough. Movements like this video have made me feel stronger than ever. Yes, I still squat , deadlift and bench heavy, but because of exercises like these, I stay healthy. Hip mobility/ strength and core ( whole trunk) strength have been the foundation of my overall strength. These are the number one importance for me to always be strong and mobile. Test yourself with these types of movements, but be safe. Start simple, basic, and build your way up. It's amazing how much better everything else will begin to feel. Move in all planes of motion, so what you're not good at and make your weaknesses your strengths. Change things up, get creative, and again, be smart about it. Be unbreakable!💪🏼🔥 #gridirongatewayelitetraining #jakeschum #workout #fitness #workouttips #strength #dad #parent #girldad #becentric #stayhealthy #mobility #flexibility

Improving midfoot rotation with PAILs RAILs - pronation The few rotations I am doing in the beginning is showing a way that people will "fake" pronation...as in they can get their big toe down, but nothing changes in the arch. I often find that these folks have a toe extension strategy that helps them move where they need to but it's extraordinarily inefficient Ankle dorsiflexion is a combination of midfoot pronation, heel eversion and abduction. If you have high arches, flat ones, or are somewhere in between, what really matters is the ability of the midfoot to move in and out of pronation and supination The midfoot must pronate so the bottom of your foot can stretch. That allows you to get weight into the big toe mound to be able to push off the big toe in moving forward in walking and running. The plantar fascia acts like a rubber band that stretches and contracts for more efficient gait. If you lose the ability to rotate, and/or your foot doesn't have appropriate stiffness (think springiness) it becomes very laborious to move around, and remember what doesn't move well will demand more from other parts to complete whatever task you're trying to complete. this detailed work is essential for everyone, but especially runners, though the setups, time, and intensity will vary. It's also difficult to learn this specific technique off of an ig reel, so keep that in mind if you try it, and ask questions below.. If you have closing angle joint pain (a pinching sensation on the outer or front of the ankle, knee loading or flexion issues, this setup likely is not appropriate for you, and it's best to reach out to a qualified individual for specific help. #bodyarchitecture #movebetter #controlyourself #frc #frcism #functionalrangeconditioning #mobility #foottraining

Some don’t weight lift as a Jiu-jitsu practitioner, and that’s ok. However, neglecting a system of training like Functional Range Conditioning, well you’re surely minimizing your abilities now and in the future. Now for my friends that do use weight lifting, this is a highly effective approach. The reason being is because it maximizing your efforts and time spent training. HOWEVER, lifting is a skill all by itself. If you don’t spend time mastering the techniques you’re inviting injuries. The opposite of what it’s intended to for. Any questions, comment below.
