Something I didn't add in the video is that there's two popular ways to get started with game development.
1st. School. 🏫
Pros: School is great if you need structure and guidance like I did at the time. School is also great to find other passionate artists who you can team up with to solve difficult problems during the learning journey. It's fun and feels like a journey you're taking with others to reach your goals.
Cons: Expensive
2nd Tutorials online 🖥
Pros: Cheap to do. Learn at your own pace. Freedom to explore different facets of game development at your own will. Great for driven self starters.
Cons: if you dont have work ethic and dedication you waste a lot of time. Easy to get stuck on issues with no help. No classmates to bounce ideas out of or ask questions to. Could be faster or much longer depending on your consistency.
Finding a job 🎮
The other thing I didn't speak about is finding your job is a numbers game. You need to apply to as many jobs as frequently as possible. Don't just apply to your dream jobs, apply everywhere and work your way up to your dream job. The other thing is if you haven't gotten interviews in the last six months, it's time to try something new.
What I mean by that is make a new portfolio piece, ask for feedback from a professional artist online or time to look into guidance on how you can improve your resume.
