RPGoogle has just announced a major breakthrough in the world of quantum computing.
Remember their Willow quantum chip that they unveiled in December of last year?
Well.
For the first time in HISTORY, Willow has demonstrated the first-ever algorithm to achieve verifiable quantum advantage on hardware, surpassing even the fastest classical supercomputers (13,000x faster).
It can compute the structure of a molecule, and paves a path towards real-world applications.
You might remember that back in 2019, Google famously demonstrated that a quantum computer could solve a problem that would take the fastest classical supercomputer thousands of years.
Today’s breakthrough moves us much closer to quantum computers that can drive major discoveries in areas like medicine and materials science.
Now there is debate in the quantum community, whether this is all just marketing speak or a real step towards quantum supremacy.
I’m merely an enthusiast, certainly not an expert, so I am definitely not smart enough to weight in.
But at the very worse, this means more excitement and funding for physics research, which I think is a great thing.

CLGoogle just announced a crazy new quantum computing chip. It can solve a problem in 5 minutes that would take one of the fastest supercomputers 10 septillion years! BUT that problem was a “benchmark” problem called RCS, chosen specifically because it’s extremely hard for a supercomputer - which are still better at basically everything practical.
The real reason you should care about quantum computers and this new chip is less about beating supercomputers at things they’re already great at and more about doing new things - like really accurate simulations of nature at a quantum level that could be used for drug discovery or battery development or more.

for so long quantum was a lab experiment because it was so expensive and difficult to run real experiments on these qubits
recently, however these AI models from @quantinuumqc and riverlane proved that specialized AI models can monitor qubits in real-time, predicting and fixing errors before they happen.
Google's Willow chip is also using AI-Quantum feedback loop to perform a calculation in <5 minutes, which would've taken a classical supercomputer 10 septillion years!!

Here in the video we discussed a paper “Option pricing using Quantum computers” where authors presented a methodology to price options and portfolios of options on a gate-based quantum computer using amplitude estimation, an algorithm which provides a quadratic speedup compared to classical Monte-Carlo methods.
➡️Black-Scholes equation. The main idea behind the equation is to hedge the option by buying and selling the underlying asset in a specific way to eliminate the risk of fluctuations in a stochastic process of stock market price.
It is fascinating how the tools are used in quant finance and quantum finance are deeply connected to physics.
If you get an education in physics, math, quantum, you can be a very valuable asset in this banking industry.
I am personally very much interested in variety of quantum computing applications for future quantum advantages. 🚀
