Southern California Grunion Run 2026 🌊🐟 First time ever witnessing this much grunion… and it’s WILD. Thousands of grunion coming out of the water to spawn right on the sand 🤯 This is the ONLY time you’re allowed to catch them. After these dates 👇 it’s strictly observation only 👀 If you’ve never seen this in person, you’re missing out… it’s one of the craziest natural events in SoCal. I’m going to use these as bait, let’s see how it goes! Tip: Avoid walking along the beach shining bright lights on the surf line before the grunion start running, it can scare them off and prevent them from coming in to breed. You can usually spot them without a light thanks to reflections from nearby pier or rig lights. If you see a few, be patient and wait for more to gather on the beach before turning on your light to collect them. Run Schedule ⏰ Thu 19th — 10:25 PM – 12:25 AM Fri 20th — 10:55 PM – 12:55 AM Sat 21st — 11:30 PM – 1:30 AM Tag your crew and pull up 🌙🔥 #grunionrun #grunionrun2026 #socalfishing

You have to be quick because they can disappear quickly! We used a Carolina with a half oz egg weight. We also used a stinger set up, ie trailing treble hook.
