Habit stacking is when you join particular habits together to complete one after the other. An example is doing your morning skincare, followed by brushing your teeth and putting on workout clothes. Habit stacking can also lead to other benefits including: 1. Easily introduce a new habit 2. Increases your productivity 3. Free up more time in your day If you already have a habit stack, introducing a new habit into this stack is so much easier to continue to do it and you are more likely to continue doing it. Habit stacking can increase your productivity, as once you start you are more likely to continue working on other tasks you want to get done. Stacking your habits together means that you are doing similar tasks at the one time. This means you don’t have to go back to similar habits later in the day, swapping from other tasks or habits that are completely different, saving on time. Habit stacking had its moment on TikTok awhile back but I’ve found my own version of habit stacking that has boosted my productivity and allowed me to get more things done in a day. Typical habit stacking takes a task you need to do and “stacks” it on top of a task you like to do. In my version, I will take a task that uses my hands (like sweeping) and stack it on a task that uses my brain (like listening to an educational podcast). I get to accomplish two things on my to-do list at once without them competing for my attention! This is the habit stack 💪 Your brain learns to link movement with pleasure, which… 👉 boosts dopamine 👉 reduces resistance 👉 makes the behaviour more automatic over time Immediate rewards strengthen behaviour circuits in the brain and increase the likelihood of repetition. So, pick your favourite show, save it for your sessions and honour that commitment. When resistance appears, pause and remember why you want to exercise, what your goals are and why it truly matters to you. You do want those things. The workout gets you there. The show is the icing on the cake. 🎬✨ Thirty to sixty minutes becoming the person you want to be while watching/ listening to something you enjoy.
