Start your handstand journey with these three exercises: 1. Frog Pose — build initial sense of balance, loading wrists and getting you used to being off your feet! 2. Headstand — hones more balance and body awareness being upside down. Helps eliminate fear of being upside down. 3. Pike hold — harder than it looks it will challenge your core strength and help build straight arm and shoulder strength. 10 STEPS TO: HANDSTAND [beginners] Welcome to another handstand video! I've created a post a few months ago, with a quick step by step handstand guide. Today, I have a bit more detailed version as a reel. I hope you'll find it helpful 🫶 📌 Don't forget to save for later STEP 1: Wrist preparation The wrists are essential for the handstand. Strengthen and warm them up properly! STEP 2: Hand position Shoulder with, fingers spread, "digging the ground" aka Spidey Fingers 🕷 STEP 3: Balance Practice to balance your weight on your hands, e.g. Crow or frog pose STEP 4: Shoulder protraction Learn to protract your shoulders (shoulder towards ears) STEP 5: Core activation Work on activating and strengthening your core, preventing banana shape upside-down STEP 6: Shoulder mobility In combination with the protraction, good shoulder mobility helps with form and prevents injuries STEP 7: Alignment Learn to stack shoulders over wrists and hips over the shoulders to create a straight line STEP 8: Strength and endurance Build upside-down strength and confidence, for example with (chest to) wall handstands STEP 9: Kick ups and falling safely Practice kick ups (maybe against the wall) and falling safely, either by tuck and roll or with a Cartwheel exit (my technique) STEP 10: Full handstand Find your balance and extend both legs. Start by doing this against the wall, if that feel safer for you There you go! You got this 👏✨️ • #learninghandstands #handstand #handstandtips #calisthenics #calisthenicsbeginner #calisthenicsskills

Four steps to get your first freestanding handstand seconds in! I see a lot of people make the same mistakes: kicking up out in the open, or trying to push off the wall to get into balance. Instead, spend more time wall-supported(back and face to wall)building strength and alignment before you start to balance💕 . .#handstandtutorial #handstandpractice #handstanddrills #handstandcoach #handstandtraining #handstand #handstanding #handstandnation

explanations⬇️⬇️ i get asked a lot how to improve/hold a longer handstand so here’s a few quick tips: 1. pushing through your shoulders prevents you from breaking at your shoulders- this way it takes much less arm strength to hold the handstand + it’s much easier to balance while maintaining a straight line. 2. tuck handstands can be less intimidating since you’re essentially cutting the length of your body in half, making balancing easier. they’re also a good way to practice opening up your shoulders at the top of the handstand and getting the upper half of your body into a good shape. 3. for most people, a stag is the easiest position to hold a handstand in, because you are able to shift the position of your legs as needed to help balance. holding longer handstands in a stag can help familiarize yourself with the feeling of being in a handstand and helps build up arm strength. 4. using your hands/fingers on the ground to balance is one of the most important yet overlooked parts of a handstand. in the video you can see that my fingers are “gripping” the ground. pushing against the ground with your fingers or palms creates small shifts in weight and will rebalance your handstand. this prevents you from having to rely on hitting a handstand where your weight is perfectly straight up and down in order to hold it. 5. during a handstand, you should be using all parts of your body to hold, not just your arms. engaging your legs, core, and arms and maintaining a tight, lengthened position all the way through helps your handstand stay up and looks much better than sinking into your body. imagine you are trying to reach something with your toes by making yourself taller. these are just a few tips i threw together, but i have more, so let me know if you want a part 2 or what you struggle with while holding a handstand and i’ll try to help! the most important part is staying consistent- you can’t expect to see progress overnight!! i hope this is helpful🫶🏼🫶🏼 - - - #handstand #handstanddrills #tutorial #handstandtutorial #howto #gym #gymnast #gymnastics #acro #acroyoga #flips #flipping #backflip #handbalancing #strength #strengthtraining #cheer #calisthenics

Practice doesn’t make perfect, perfect practice makes perfect… Or better said a well aligned handstand makes a straight handstand🙌🏽 If you want to learn handstand stop practicing in bad form, all that repetition is just training your body out of alignment🥺 Instead learn techniques to train your body in alignment from the start! This wall handstand will not only train your body how to stack your joints and align your body for handstand but will also help build the strength and stamina to balance away from the wall eventually. This is how I learned how to handstand and this is how I’ve trained 1000s of students. It works🙌🏽 #activateyourhandstand #handstandtraining #handstand #handstandeveryday #yogatutorial #yogatips #yogateacher #yogaeverydamnday #handstands

Think your core is too weak for your handstand? 🤔 One of the most common things I hear when I teach or train people: “I need to train my core more to fix my banana handstand.” 🍌 Here’s the truth: it’s not your core strength! Most of the time, it’s shoulder mobility and strength in the open shoulder position. Once that’s there, you can actually activate your core properly to get into the perfect line💕 #Handstandcoach #alignment #Handstand #handstandtraining #calisthenics
