In all seriousness this is such a deep rooted issue that needs addressing. We know our bodies better than anyone, why do Doctors not take us seriously when we come in with symptoms? Unfortunately this is why so many people use Google to diagnose themselves, because Doctors won’t take them seriously enough.
The system needs changing.

Today’s story is about medical gaslighting and the struggle of advocating for yourself in healthcare.
When I was diagnosed with MS, I was told “you’re too young to have MS”, “it’s probably just a trapped nerve”, and “you’re probably just stressed.” I was even told “it’s definitely not MS.”
Sadly myself and the person who shared this story aren’t the only ones. These stories are incredibly common. That’s why we need to speak about these experiences and raise awareness!

CHMy ADHD assessment - I did not expect to cry🥺
I’m so thankful that my assessor was so understanding and really kind throughout and understood a lot about my other diagnoses as well which really helped.
I was so so scared and worried about this assessment but I’m so glad I finally have answers and although it’s a lot to process, I can now finally understand my self better too🫶🏼
I’m just a little cloudy complex diagnostic picture☁️🥺 - I actually like this way of putting it for some reason.

IMA letter for the misunderstood and those who misunderstand..
There isn’t a manual to being chronically ill, many of us wish there were😅Unfortunately we can’t pick our good or bad days, our body does that for us…
Even when we over perform and go above and beyond (when we shouldn’t) we still feel like we’re not doing ‘enough’ or get heckled by those who are meant to understand us the most.
It’s not fun, it’s not easy and it definitely can be so complex and often difficult to understand.
We get it, you want us to be there but we want you to understand that we only show up as much as our body allows us to.
A letter to the misunderstood and those who misunderstand. Let me know if you can relate and what you’d like to learn from those who experience this everyday❤️🩹

ALHonestly I’m so done. Since pageant weekend I’ve dealt with so much sickness in the house then followed by a hospital admission for the eldest so I’m back and forth to the hospital between Christmas concerts, parents eves, and good knows what else that schools have on this time of year. 5 kids in 4 different schools is no joke.

It can be easy to see someone online and think they have it all figured out, I get comments like that so often I have stopped count.
I’ve lived with Functional neurological disorder for almost 4 years now, it’s taken over my life in a way I could’ve never imagined.
Symptoms flying all over the place, my body feeling like it’s attacking itself and all to be told it’s just “in my head”.
I’m coming on here to show you watch I experience on a daily basis, behind the scenes. It’s very real, very difficult and not all in our heads.
