Do you have this hydrangea in your landscape? 👀 If so, companion plants can help complete the display! Panicle hydrangeas are loved for their long-lasting blooms and vivid color transformations when flowers transition from white to pink. Pairing perennials and shrubs with your panicle hydrangeas is a game-changer that provides added interest to complement this outstanding shrub. 🌱👉 What would you plant with panicle hydrangeas? #limelighthydrangea #companionplanting #hydrangeapaniculata #perennialplants #gardendesignideas

The Oakleaf Hydrangea is the answer to your hydrangea starvation!!! I see a LOT of unsuitable hydrangeas being planted in Texas and it almost always seems to result in frustration and failure. The classic pink and blue mophead hydrangeas are native to Asia, and perform wonderfully in colder climates. So here in Texas, particularly East Tx I’m kinda speaking to here, you can grow a hydrangea that’s very close to being native to Texas. Hydrangea quercifolia, the Oakleaf, is native to the gulf coast states just barely east of Texas. Thriving in woodland-like, shaded environments, with rich acidic soil, this hydrangea offers a unique experience to grow a plant that actually belongs in our gardens. What do you think about this?? #hydrangea #nativeplants #oakleafhydrangea

Hydrangeas are stunning. But they aren’t what makes a garden feel full. After planting 200+ hydrangeas in our Zone 6A garden, we learned the real secret is structure, repetition, and layered planting. Back layer for height. Middle layer for bloom. Front layer for softness. Evergreen anchors for winter. That’s how you create depth instead of random flowers. Save this if you’re designing your garden this year. If you have the case of the winter blues, this is your reminder than brighter days are ahead. But if you want big, fluffy hydrangeas by summer, here’s how to treat them now so they look full and beautiful later: First, know what type you have. If they bloom on old wood (like Bigleaf hydrangea and Oakleaf hydrangea), do not aggressively prune in February. You’ll cut off this summer’s blooms. Only remove dead wood and clearly damaged stems. If they bloom on new wood (like my Annabelle hydrangeas or Panicle hydrangea), late winter is your window (ahem…that’s now!). Cut them back to about 12–24 inches tall. This encourages strong, sturdy stems and bigger blooms. Next: clean up the base. Remove old leaves, debris, and any fallen stems. This improves airflow and reduces disease pressure before the growing season kicks in. Then: feed fertilizer. Add compost around the base or apply a slow-release, balanced fertilizer. You’re building the foundation now for lush growth later. Finally: mulch matters. Add a fresh layer of mulch (2–3 inches) to regulate soil temperature and retain moisture once the heat hits. My favorite is Gold Diamond Western Red Cedar. A little attention in February will give you full, overflowing blooms by July. Comment BLOOM below and I’ll send you links to my favorite fertilizer as well as a few of my favorite garden/landscape tools and supplies. https://liketk.it/5VVO7 #ltkhome #ltkseasonal #annabellehydrangea

✨Save and share with someone who grows limelight hydrangeas Pruning Lime Light Hydrangeas For most of the plants in my landscape I refer to the experts for their maintenance. I purchased my lime lights from @provenwinners (not a sponsored post I just love their hydrangeas). The recommended time to prune lime lights is late winter or early spring. I love the look of the dried blooms in the landscape thus I leave them as long as possible. I also use the dried blooms in Fall and Winter floral arrangements. ⚠️ Not all hydrangeas require pruning as some grow on old wood. If you are not sure please do your research and look up your plants first. I am located in zone 8a and prune as soon as I see the first sign of hydrangeas buds. This is a great time to prune as I can clearly see where to cut. The recommendation for pruning lime lights is to cut only 1/3 of the plant’s branches back. Anything more can result in weak branches and unable to hold the weightof large blooms. As lime lights bloom on new wood, over cutting can also result in little to no blooms. Using sharp and clean pruning shears, I like to cut at a 45 degree angle just above the bud. Working with heavy clay soil, I add fresh organic matter like rich organic compost and top with a balanced slow release fertilizer. If you are unsure of what fertilizer to use, I go with the one from @provenwinners since they are the grower. You can find it on their website or Amazon. Again this is not a sponsored post. I just love their plants. I hope this simple video was of some assist to someone🌱 #pruning #hydrandeas #limelight

This plant looks like a soft cloud in the landscape… and in spring it fills with tiny pink flowers. 🌸 Breath of Heaven (Coleonema) is an evergreen shrub with fine, airy foliage that brings beautiful texture and movement to the garden. In late winter through spring it becomes covered in delicate star-shaped blooms. It thrives in full sun, prefers well-drained soil, and once established it’s fairly drought tolerant. Pair it with lavender, rosemary, and ornamental grasses to create a whimsical, sun-loving, water-wise landscape. #breathofheaven #coleonema #bayareagardening #waterwisegarden #droughttolerantplants

My favorite-The Limelight Hydrangea. They grow fast, and bloom profusely. This variety of hydrangea is just about the most easy going and tolerant shrub that I have planted. They establish so quickly, too! For instance, this captures only two seasons of growth on our side yard. Amazing, right?!
