REWhen I was designing this sculpture I was thinking of making every other piece of wood a different color. That way it would be easier to see that half the slats form a two-peaked wave, and half a three-peaked wave. But as I was drawing it I realized that the solid form where the two waves overlapped had a life of its own, so changed my mind and made all the slats the same color so that the middle read as a continuous form. The spacing is 1/4 inch between slats, and I planed the wood to .24” so they are ten thousandths under the nominal spacing. I tend to work in decimal inches, converting to fractions if I need to use a tape measure or drill bit, or metric if the sculpture is going overseas.
