I flew all the way to Shanghai for Intertextile, because this is where conversations that can truly shape the future of fashion need to happen 🌏✨ Intertextile is one of the largest and most influential textile trade shows in the world, a meeting point for tens of thousands thousands of suppliers, buyers, mills, innovators, and brands. And it’s exactly in places like this, where sourcing decisions are made, where fabrics are selected for the next global collections, that sustainability needs to be at the table. We often speak about sustainable innovation in curated panels, niche events, or dedicated “green” corners. But real impact happens when those same ideas enter the mainstream of industry dialogue. When we start to ask: 💭 What materials will define the next decade? 💭 How can we scale innovation responsibly? 💭 And how do we make sustainability a default, not an exception? That’s why it’s so powerful to see sustainability conversations gaining presence here, among halls filled with textiles, technology, and trade. Because this is where change has the potential to travel fastest. Every conversation here has the power to influence entire supply chains. And among the highlights this season were some incredible material innovators: 🌊 @peelsphere , rethinking and reshaping next-gen leather alternatives made using seaweed, coffee and other partially or fully bio-based materials 🌿 @chloris_biodye , using biotechnology to create plant-based dyes 🍃 @tencel_world , continuing to push boundaries for regenerative, low-impact cellulosic fibers We’ll dive deeper into each of these in the coming weeks! We need more of these conversations, not fewer. More collaboration between innovators and manufacturers. More space for sustainability in sourcing discussions. And more courage to ask the uncomfortable but necessary questions about how we produce, design, and consume.
