In the Indian Parliament on December 2024, data from the Department of Personnel and Training revealed that between 2018 and 2022, out of 1,653 IAS and IPS recruits:
46.15% belonged to the General category (763 officers: 382 IAS + 381 IPS).
29.4% came from the Other Backward Classes (OBC) (486 officers: 243 IAS + 243 IPS).
16.33% were from Scheduled Castes (SC) and 7.83% from Scheduled Tribes (ST) .
