<MUST-VISIT JB CAFE WITH SALTED EGG CROISSANT, MATCHA CROON, MENTAIKO PASTA> 📍JWC The Factory 30 (@jwc.thefactory30) 📌 Mount Austin 🇲🇾 JB Eats 📸 Invited Tasting Whenever my friends and I plan a JB trip, we're always on the lookout for new cafes to visit. Coincidentally I got the invite to visit JWC The Factory 30 right before our planned trip! 😛 this huge cafe in Mount Austin is pretty popular, and the menu is simply irresistible with all sorts of mains and pastries 😋 🥘JWC Beef Stew w Potato Puree (38RM) Beautiful dish, the beef chunks are pretty tender and there's a good ratio of boiled carrots and veggies to pair. The potato puree was super smooth and yummy! 🍝Mentaiko Spaghetti (30RM) Suuuper creamy and umami! The mentaiko taste isn't too overwhelming and blends nicely into the cream sauce. There's also lots of salmon bits within to make it more exciting. 🍛Demi Glace Beef Curry (35RM) Pretty good curry, it's more savoury and not very spicy. The beef chunks are like the ones in the beef stew, meaty and quite tender. Liked the egg, which was so fluffy and nicely cooked! 🧀Crispy Mac and Cheese (23RM) Ever tried mac & cheese in cubic form? This was pretty interesting, nice and cheesy though I thought that it was a bit more dry compared to the usual mac & cheese. 🥐Salted Egg Croissant (12RM) My friends were mixed on this, I loved how strong the salted egg taste was and the crispy bits really elevated this pastry for me, though some of my friends thought it was too intense, so depends on how much of a salted egg fan you are. The croissant itself wasn't very buttery or crisp though, it had more of a bready, slightly store-bought texture. Liked the fillings but the pastry itself could be improved 🤔 🍵Matcha Croon (12RM) Thisss though. Probably one of the BEST matcha ganaches I've tried. The matcha filling was incredibly fragrant, gao, and at the perfect sweetness level to pair with the croissant. Wish the croissant was crispier but the matcha filling really carries this dish! If a bakery has super long queues and everyone walks out with at least 8 breads, you already know it’s good 🥰 @bbbakery.official specialises in shio pan, and it’s easily one of the best I’ve had in SG & JB 🤩 and it’s only a 5min drive from KSL 👍🏻 Their shio pan has that iconic golden, crispy, crackly exterior + soft, fluffy, slightly chewy and buttery insides ✨❤️🫶🏻 They even have a live filling station where shio pans are freshly stuffed with mentaiko and scallion cream cheese - if you’re lucky you can get the warm freshly baked shio pans 😋 PLEASE AIR FRY AT HOME IF NOT FRESH 🙏🏻 Here’s what I recommend: 💛 Classic RM5.9, 9.2/10: can really taste the butter, very shiok!! 🍠 Taro mochi RM 8.9, 8.5/10: earthy, smooth yam paste with stretchy mochi 🧀 Triple cheese RM 11, 8.9/10: sweet & savoury combi, insane amount of cheese!!! 🧄🍯 Honey garlic butter, 8.6/10: rich and fragrant, reminds me of the Korean Garlic Cream Cheese bun And don’t skip desserts — the lemon cheesecake was a standout. Creamy, rich, balanced with tangy lemon curd 🍋 Overall, worth the hype and will be back for sure!! 👍🏻 but must heat up at home.
