DRI certainly understand what he's saying to a point, that it's not healthy to live a life that is out of balance.
However I have a lot of friends that I keep up with that I would have no connection to if it were not for social media. Also social media opens doors for new economies and opportunities. It reminds me of feminism. When women started to make their own money, they no longer had to deal with a frustrating man just to get their basic needs met.
Perhaps now that men don't feel that they need to deal with unhealthy relationships in order to get basic things like sex, perhaps it liberates them to focus on the things that might actually matter for them.
I think the bottom line idea is that a life without purpose is not a life worth living but if you find your purpose even if it happens to be digital, that could be okay.
Also his statement that technology is a bad thing is incredibly defeatist because every generation complains about new technology as if it's ruining people. What do you think?
