Ladybug larvae may look a little strange, but they’re actually one of the best beneficial insects you can have in your garden! 🐞 Before they become the red spotted ladybugs we recognize, they spend this stage eating pests like aphids, helping protect your plants naturally! So if you see one crawling around your garden, leave it be - it’s working hard for you! #GardenHelpers #BeneficialInsects #GardenTips #organicgarden #ladybug

Did you know a single ladybug can eat up to 50 aphids a day? 🐞 That makes them one of the best natural helpers to have in your garden! Instead of fighting pests alone, you can plant flowers and herbs that help bring beneficial insects like ladybugs to your garden. A few of my favorites that ladybugs are known to love: 🌱 Dill 🌱 Fennel 🌱 Yarrow 🌱 Sweet Alyssum 🌱 Marigolds 🌱 Calendula 🌱 Cosmos Many of these produce small clusters of flowers, which provide pollen and nectar that help attract and support beneficial insects. Plant a few of these around your garden and let nature help keep aphids in check! #gardentips #gardeningtips #companionplanting #ladybugs #beneficialinsects

Ladybugs and Asian lady beetles may look similar, but they’re not the same. Native ladybugs are beneficial garden helpers that stay outdoors and quietly control pests like aphids. Asian lady beetles, introduced for pest control, often invade homes in fall, can bite, and release a yellow odor when disturbed. Spot patterns vary, but behavior is the biggest clue — garden friend vs. house guest. #GregsGardens #Ladybugs #GardenEducation #KnowYourInsects #GardenMyths

GOOD BUG / BAD BUG 🐞 Tiny eggs on your plant? Don’t panic yet. Some eggs in the garden mean pests are coming… and some mean help is on the way. Ladybug eggs = GOOD They hatch into one of your best aphid-eating garden helpers. Aphid eggs = BAD They turn into the pests that love to gang up on tender new growth. The hard part? They can be easy to confuse if you’re new to gardening. Moral of the story: Don’t assume every cluster of eggs is bad. Sometimes your garden is already sending in backup.
