OLT എന്നത് Optical Line Terminal എന്നതിന്റെ ചുരുക്കപ്പേരാണ്. 🔹 ഇത് FTTH (Fiber To The Home) അല്ലെങ്കിൽ GPON (Gigabit Passive Optical Network) ടെക്നോളജിയിൽ ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്ന പ്രധാന ഉപകരണമാണ്. 🔹 OLT സാധാരണയായി ISP (Internet Service Provider)-ന്റെ ഹെഡ്‌എൻഡിൽ (Central Office) ഇൻസ്റ്റാൾ ചെയ്യാറുണ്ട്. 🔹 ഇതിന്റെ പ്രധാന ജോലി സർവീസ് പ്രൊവൈഡറിന്റെ ഡേറ്റാ നെറ്റ്‌വർക്ക് നിന്ന് വരുന്ന സിഗ്നലുകൾ ഒപ്റ്റിക്കൽ ഫൈബർ വഴി ONT/ONU (Optical Network Terminal/Unit)-കളിലേക്ക് അയക്കുന്നതാണ്. OLT-ന്റെ പ്രധാന ഫങ്ഷനുകൾ: 1. ഡാറ്റാ ട്രാൻസ്മിഷൻ – സെർവർ/ISP നെറ്റ്‌വർക്കിൽ നിന്ന് വരുന്ന ഡാറ്റാ GPON വഴി വീട്ടിലേക്കും ഓഫിസിലേക്കും എത്തിക്കുന്നു. 2. സിഗ്നൽ കൺവേർഷൻ – ഇലക്ട്രിക്കൽ സിഗ്നലുകൾ ഓപ്റ്റിക്കൽ സിഗ്നലുകളാക്കുകയും, മറിച്ചും ചെയ്യുന്നു. 3. ട്രാഫിക് മാനേജ്മെന്റ് – പല ONT/ONU-കളിലേക്ക് ഡാറ്റാ ശരിയായ രീതിയിൽ ഷെയർ ചെയ്യുന്നു. 4. സെക്യൂരിറ്റി, ഓത്തന്റിക്കേഷൻ – ഓരോ കസ്റ്റമർ ONT-യും പരിശോധിച്ച് സർവീസ് അനുവദിക്കുന്നു. ലളിതമായി പറഞ്ഞാൽ: OLT ISP-യുടെ ബ്രെയിൻ പോലെയാണ് → ഇതിൽ നിന്ന് ഫൈബർ വഴി Splitter → തുടർന്ന് ONT/ONU (വീട്/ഓഫീസ് ഉപഭോക്തൃ ഡിവൈസ്) എന്ന ക്രമത്തിൽ ഇന്റർനെറ്റ് വിതരണം ചെയ്യപ്പെടുന്നു.
