ROLed Zeppelin’s “Dazed and Confused” was inspired by a 1967 Jake Holmes song of the same name. A 2010 lawsuit by Holmes resulted in the credit being changed to “Jimmy Page, inspired by Jake Holmes.”
Jimmy Page saw Jake Holmes perform the song in 1967 and adapted it for the Yardbirds before Led Zeppelin recorded their version.
Holmes tried contacting Page about the songwriting credit in the 1980s, but received no reply.

ROReleased in 1972 as the second single from their debut album Can’t Buy a Thrill, Steely Dan’s “Reeling in the Years” features what is widely considered one of the greatest guitar solos in rock history. While the track peaked at #11 on the Billboard Hot 100, its cultural data point is anchored by the performance of session guitarist Elliott Randall. WIThe first album cover I ever shot but never shared as it wouldn’t line up, in fact it never would a local New Yorker stopped and told me. “They removed the fifth floor from the building so it would make a perfect ‘square’ for the LP cover.”
He told me they chose this building as it’s where Jimmy Page’s, (Led Zeppelin’s guitarist), dealer lived and on the day they needed the album artwork they were drinking at the bar on the corner, which they used to frequent with The Rolling Stones. Jimmy said “let’s just pop round the corner and use that building there”.
To fact check this you can actually see this building also featured in The Stones’ music video for “Waiting On A Friend” where Mick is waiting in the doorway for Keith before they pop round the corner to that exact bar.
“I bet you won’t find that story on the internet” he told me before walking off with his dog.
