LOFrom my personal experience, I’d teach these 5 important things in Longboard dancing that few people are talking about :
1. Shoes matter !
Everyone spends hours debating decks, trucks, and wheels, but almost no one talks about what’s on their feet. Shoes matter. A thin, flat sole gives you that direct board feel. Thick, chunky sneakers just mute everything. They kill your precision and can even be dangerous because they mess with your balance.
2. Start chasing feeling.
Most beginners obsess over what their feet are doing. The ones who progress fastest are the ones who shift focus to how it feels. the weight shift, the momentum, the board response. Tricks are a byproduct of body awareness, not the other way around. remember : Feeling before performance.
3. Ride slower than you think you should.
Beginners instinctively go faster to feel more confident or to commit. Slow riding is where control, balance, and sensitivity actually developp. Slowness reveals and fixes your weaknesses.
4. You’re not learning longboarding. You’re learning your body.
Most beginners think the goal is to master the board. It’s not. The board is just feedback. Every wobble, every imbalance, every awkward step is your body telling you something about your posture, your weight distribution. Get curious about that feedback instead of frustrated by it.
5. Film yourself to spot what’s wrong.
Use video as a diagnostic tool. By filming your movements, you can pinpoint exactly where tension creeps in.whether your shoulders are creeping toward your ears, your posture is breaking, or you are subconsciously holding your breath.
