CHTo think there was a time, just earlier this year, where I’d be stressing like a total lunatic if I saw even the slightest glimmer of grey. I’d be frantically calling the hairdresser, “It’s an emergency! Can I come today? Please let me know if you can squeeze me in tomorrow, I NEED to get my roots done!! 😭”
My heart rate would spike because I was that stressed 🤣😳
I allowed societal expectations and the beauty industry to make me feel like I needed to fear that grey glimmer. That I shouldn’t dare be seen with silver hair longer than two centimeters. I allowed this industry to brainwash me into thinking that the minute I became grey, even as an 18-year-old, I should cover it up until society decided it was acceptable to reveal the natural colour growing from my scalp.
I ask, WHY?
This is my hair.
Why should I fear what God intended for me?
Why do I place shame on myself?
Why have we stigmatized the colours grey, silver, and white when they no longer relate to age? Millions of women carry silver hair from their late teens and early twenties. Perhaps society hasn’t yet woken up because too many of us still live in fear, or remain under the spell of the industry.
The number one goal of that industry is simple: money. They create insecurities and then feed on them. Period.
You are the only one who can decide how to play this game. Will you live by their rules, or will you create your own and live a life of complete liberation?
The choice is yours. 🩶
