XMI blew my first trading account in 1 week.
Then I blew three $50K funded accounts in one session.
Here are 8 embarrassing things about my journey to becoming a profitable trader.
1. My first live trading account lasted one week. $2,000 gone. Overtrading, revenge trading, greed. No risk management, journal, or real strategy. I was trading in the flesh.
2. Even after discovering prop firms, discipline was my biggest weakness. I was copy trading 3 $50K Topstep funded accounts & blew them all in one tilt session.
3. For a long time I traded with no journaling, real risk management, mentorship, or proven strategy. Trading exposed a battle between my flesh & spirit. My flesh wanted revenge trades & one more click. The Holy Spirit began teaching me discipline. “He who is faithful in what is least is faithful also in much.” Luke 16:10. “The soul of the diligent shall be made rich.” Proverbs 13:4.
4. Everything changed when I stopped chasing payouts & sought God first. “Seek first the kingdom of God & His righteousness, & all these things shall be added to you.” Matthew 6:33. That’s when I entered the top 3% of traders on Topstep & got my first payout. More followed.
5. I used to think money was evil & trading was gambling. I believed poverty made you holy & wealth made you wicked. But the Bible says: “The wealth of the sinner is stored up for the righteous.” Proverbs 13:22.
6. I was introduced to trading 3 years before taking it seriously. My first trade turned $1,500 into $1,550. Because it was long-term investing, I didn’t see trading’s power & quit for 3 years. If I had started then, I’d have 5 years experience by now & probably be a millionaire from trading alone.
7. Growing up around financial stress gave me a scarcity mindset about money. Now I understand money flows to those who create value. “He who withholds grain, the people curse him; but blessing is on the head of him who sells it.” Proverbs 11:26.
8. I’m 22 & sometimes social media makes it feel like you’re behind. But God’s timing is perfect. “I will restore to you the years the locust has eaten.”Joel 2:25. Every blown account & mistake shaped me.
