A lot of people think the reformer was invented to make Pilates harder. But originally, it was actually designed to make Pilates more accessible. Joseph Pilates developed the reformer using springs attached to a bed frame while working with injured and unwell patients. Many of them couldn’t get down onto the floor to perform traditional mat exercises. The springs allowed movements to be supported or assisted, helping people build strength and mobility while lying down. That’s why the reformer is so effective for: • injury rehabilitation • beginners • people with limited mobility The springs can make exercises easier or harder, depending on how they’re used. So while reformer Pilates can definitely be challenging… its original purpose was actually to help people move when mat Pilates wasn’t possible. Recently I brought it onto the Reformer and made it part of the choreography. Feliz domingo. Hoy les muestro algunas de las rutinas que hago, porque como me encanta hartarme en la calle, en casa mantengo una alimentación muy estricta y una disciplina fuerte con el ejercicio. Me entreno hasta 6 veces a la semana y practico distintos tipos de ejercicios. Uno de ellos es pilates. Mi amiga @sarahbrooksofficial me entrena en el reformer, usualmente los domingos, aunque también practico pilates en el piso. Además hago boxeo, pesas, barre, he corrido el maratón de Nueva York y más. Todo esto por cuidar mi salud física y mental… ¡y poder disfrutar de la buena comida! Happy Sunday! Today I’m sharing some of the routines I do. Since I love indulging in food when I’m out, at home I stick to a strict diet and a strong workout discipline. I train up to six times a week and practice different types of exercises. One of them is Pilates. My friend @sarahbrooksofficial trains me on the reformer, usually on Sundays, though I also do mat Pilates. I also box, lift weights, do barre, and I’ve even run the New York Marathon. I hear giggles from the weight lifters, see rolling eyes from the runners and notice shoulders turning from ballsportlovers… but hey, can I tell you that I have my whole life been an Allrounder in sports and what I’ve learnt is. There is no other sport like Pilates that is the proud but quiet supporter of a healthy and strong body, a body that is capable of all the sports there are. It teaches you to be 100% body aware, it shows where one needs a little extra practice, it builds those deep muscles that will make you naturally walk prouder and it needs no more than a mat. 💜💁🏼‍♀️ - For me mat Pilates is the queen of Pilates methods. When last have you been on the mat?

I wish more people knew this 👇 1. The Reformer might look intimidating but if you start with a Beginner class you will feel supported and challenged at the same time. If you Focus on the simple basics will make you feel so much more confident on the Reformer when you do start to progress 🥰 2. Pilates is a practice designed for longevity not quick fixes. I see people dip in and out of classes and wonder why they are not seeing results. Like any practice you need to continually show up, gradually progress your movements & spring load and you will feel and see the incredible difference. 3. You do NOT need to be flexible to start Pilates. It’s a common myth that you need to be flexible before you start Pilates. A big part of Pilates is working on mobility and increasing flexibility so you just need to get started and your flexibility will gradually improve.
