LOOK. So this is a scary video to put out there as I’m definitely not looking my best, but that’s what MCAS (and many other conditions) does to you some days, right?! 😳
There are dozens of possible symptoms of mast cell activation syndrome, and we all have different ones.
They can be skin issues, gut issues, neurological and more.
I had a lot of these from other diagnosed conditions, but one day I started to get really painful facial flushing. It felt like severe sunburn, in the middle of winter.
Walking to work I figured I may have a virus, and that it would last a week or so. That was about ten years ago.
It was the sign to me that I needed medical help as something was different, and incredibly painful.
These days I still have flushing. I have it right now as I’m typing this. But it comes and goes, is much milder, and usually I know what my trigger is.
I guess what I’m saying is that if you’re worried about a new symptom then be sure to see a medical doctor. I know that can be tough, and I had to see quite a few to get the right diagnosis as MCAS isn’t well known. But it’s worth getting second, third, fourth or fifth opinions.
Oh and the sweaty face and unwashed hair was because I had been walking/ jogging 😜
