The mental load of a working mom is next level. This isn’t up for debate. It’s just a fact. This needs to be studied. Because somehow working moms are still excelling in their careers, their partners are stepping up, they are outsourcing things they don’t want to spend time on… … but burn out is still happening. Thoughts? #corporatemom #workingmom #workingmama #mentalload

Midlife burnout isn’t about hormones or attitude it’s about carrying the mental load on repeat. If you’re Gen X, 40+, or deep in the Queenager era and this feels a little too real… you’re not alone. 💬 Comment “same” if this loop looks familiar 🔁 Share with someone living this day on repeat

If working mom life came with a warning label, it would say: everyone needs you at the exact same time. 😅 This is full-time working motherhood with young kids. Work messages. Parenting questions. Daycare updates. Emotional support requests. All while your brain is already overstimulated and running on fumes. It’s not that we can’t handle it. It’s that the mental load never actually shuts off. So if you’ve ever been mid-spiral and still immediately replied to a text asking for parenting advice… yeah. Same. Solidarity, bestie. 🫶🏼 we ride at dawn (or after school drop offs) 😂 Motherhood | Mom Life | Millennial Mom | Work Life Balance | Mental Load | Working Mom | WFH Mom | Toddler Mom #workingmom#workingmomlife#workingmomstruggles#workingmomproblems#mentalload

I posted this story last year, and the response was overwhelming. So many women told me they were quietly living the same experience. Not because they married bad partners. But because the mental load of their homes had slowly become theirs. The planning. The remembering. The invisible work that keeps a family running. Three years ago I remember thinking: what’s the point of doing this with someone else if I’m carrying it alone? That moment almost ended our marriage. Instead, it forced us to change it. It took time, intention, tools, and a commitment from both of us to build a more equitable partnership. Today our marriage feels completely different. If this story feels familiar, you’re not alone. #mentalload #mentalloadofmotherhood #marriage #divorce #motherhood

A mother wakes up tired. She goes to bed tired. Not because she didn’t rest. But because her mind never clocks out. The mental load is real. The invisible checklist running 24/7. The future planning. The emotional buffering. The “what ifs.” The backup plans. And here’s the truth no one says loud enough: If your income only works when you’re running on fumes… That’s not freedom. That’s another weight. I believe mothers deserve income that doesn’t depend on burnout. Systems that work even when you’re tired. Money that doesn’t cost your nervous system. Because ambition and motherhood can exist in the same body. And exhaustion should not be the price of success. Comment “MENTAL LOAD” if you feel this.

The mental load isn’t just a checklist; it’s the weight of every lost sock, every doctor’s appointment, every meal planned, and every “I love you” tucked into the day. Sometimes, we’re carrying so much that we forget we’re carrying it at all. To the moms holding it all together: I see you. You are the backbone, the heart, and the safety net. But remember, even the strongest foundations need support. 🤍 #MotherhoodUnfiltered #InvisibleLoad #MentalLoad #MomLife #parenting

I realized I didn’t actually want another fight… I just wanted the mental load to be seen. So instead of snapping, over-explaining, or crying over something small, this is what I said: 1. “I don’t need help doing tasks. I need help holding the responsibility for them.” 2. “When I’m the one who always has to remember, plan, and follow up, that’s the exhausting part.” 3. “Even when you help, I’m still managing it in my head.” 4. “I don’t want to delegate. I want us to own things together.” 5. “This isn’t about today. It’s about the constant weight I’m carrying.” And for the first time, it didn’t turn into a blowup. Because the mental load isn’t the chores. It’s the invisible work behind them. The thinking. The tracking. The anticipating. The never fully turning your brain off 😮‍💨 If you’ve ever felt like you’re one small thing away from losing it… you’re not dramatic or failing. You’re overloaded. Follow @kee_to_wellness for honest mom life, mental load conversations, and content that puts words to the stuff we’ve all been carrying quietly 🤍 #mentalload #defaultparent #workingmomlife #motherhoodreal #emotional labor Alt keywords: mental load motherhood, default parent experience, emotional labor in parenting, working mom burnout, invisible labor moms

My husband finally understood the mental load when I stopped “nagging”… and explained it like this. Instead of arguing about chores, I said: “Imagine if every day at work your boss said, ‘Just tell me what needs to be done and I’ll help.’ You’d still be the one: • noticing the problems • deciding what needs to happen • assigning the tasks • following up • making sure it gets finished You wouldn’t call that teamwork. You’d call that managing.” That’s when it clicked. The mental load isn’t just doing the tasks. It’s tracking the entire system. And when that lives in one person’s head, it creates management, not partnership. That’s the shift that changed everything in our house. Not more help. Clear ownership. If you want the exact framework I used to start making that shift without constant fights or reminders, comment OFF MUTE and I’ll send it to you. 🔇💛

As a modern dad, the mental load shouldn’t fall solely on the woman anymore. Being a father today means more than just being a financial provider. In most modern marriages, both spouses are working. And even if they’re not, both are carrying something mentally. It’s not about who’s carrying more. It’s about how you carry it together. In the beginning of our marriage, my wife and I kept score. Who makes more money? Who does more around the house? Who’s doing more? Keeping score didn’t help. It hurt us. Everything changed when we stopped competing and started teaming up. When we approached marriage as a partnership instead of a comparison. The mental load fathers carry doesn’t always come to the surface. We’re just better at hiding it. And just because yours feels overwhelming doesn’t mean someone else’s isn’t. We just carry it differently. We’re not opponents. We’re teammates. We’re in this together. Keep showing up
