And just like that, the new leg is assembled and complete! Any above-knee prosthesis is composed of three major parts: the foot/ankle, knee, and socket. For this prosthesis, these are my components: 🦶: Proflex XC Torsion by @ossur 🦿: X3 by @ottobockus_ca My socket has both an inner/outer socket. It uses a “double-walled suspension” system (how you put it on), and I put attach the prosthesis to my body both with suction and a pin/lock system. I’m waiting for my liners to come in this week, but when they do, I use the Smart Temp liners by @willowwoodglobal Thank you again to the team over at @bulowops. They always go above and beyond in their work and customer service. Can’t recommend them enough. 👌🏼 Excited to continue learning and sharing how the prosthesis works. I plan on using it to the fullest. 🙌🙌

It is the first controlled lab test of a prosthetic leg integrating active hip, knee, and ankle joints on a human. That combination represents a small step forward in prosthetic technology. 👋 But I’m just the test subject. The credit belongs to the researchers and their teams who’ve spent years developing these devices: 🦿OPEN SOURCE LEG @opensourceleg | Developed by my cousin (!) Dr. Elliott Rouse at University of Michigan Neurobionics Lab. 🦿 POWER KNEE | This is the (fantastic!) knee I use daily in my prosthesis. It’s made by @ossur . Power Knee is the only device in this video that’s commercially available to patients. DISCLOSURE: This post is not meant as a commercial, but full disclosure: I received my Power Knee in exchange for promotional work. 🦿 HIP | Designed and built by Louis Devillez @louisdvlz and Dr. Renaud Ronsse at The Louvian School of Engineering @epl_uclouvain | It’s called AUHRA (Active Unit for Hip Robotic Assistance) 👩‍🔬 Notably, there are no active (motorized) hips on the market. Всем привет! 🤪 Как вы уже знаете, при любой возможности я тестирую коленные модули и стараюсь как можно глубже понять все их возможности. Ну дааа, я такая 😅 — но ведь потом мне нужно всё это рассказывать начинающим пользователям! 🙃 Так что считаю, что делаю всё правильно! Пару дней назад я уговорила ребят дать мне протестировать нашумевший Genium X4, и, честно говоря, это просто взорвало мой мозг! 😆 😎 Итак! На всех коленных модулях — подчеркну, на всех, — на которых я когда-либо ходила, всегда ощущалось полное разгибание коленного модуля после фазы переноса. А тут — что-то невероятное! Я не почувствовала привычного «импульса» в момент выпрямления колена. Даже умея не смотреть под ноги, я всё равно ловила себя на том, что проверяю — настолько всё шло естественно. Нужно просто довериться. Идёшь — как на своих ногах, если смотреть с точки зрения биомеханики шага. Конечно, это моё личное впечатление, но Genium X4 реагировал на мои движения мгновенно. Благодаря этому не ощущалось ни веса тренажёров, ни нагрузки. Он одновременно мягкий и плавный, но при этом быстрый и прощающий мелкие ошибки 🤗 Быстрая и слаженная работа модуля просто впечатляет — смело скажу: эти коленки действительно умнее, они другие. Особенно хочу отметить алгоритм подъёма по лестнице. На других коленных модулях с такой же функцией, это всегда требовало много сил и терпения. Здесь же — получилось с первого раза! 🙃 Даже инициация замаха и постановка протеза на ровную поверхность удалась сразу, хотя раньше повторить это было почти невозможно 🤩 По пандусу идти тоже было интересно — кадры, правда, не покажу 😅, ракурс не для слабонервных. Но всё прошло успешно. А потом я просто устала. Честно — не представляю, как вы, ребята на протезах, ходите целыми днями. It is a pre-formed, wearable device made from a light-curing mesh material that is applied to the injured limb with a zipper and then quickly hardened (in 3-10 minutes) using a special light device (RizyCure). The key advantages of FlexiOH include its breathable, waterproof, and lightweight design, which allows for air circulation, sweat evaporation, and the ability to shower or swim, thereby preventing common issues like skin irritation, itching, and bad odor associated with traditional casts. The device is also radiolucent (meaning it doesn't interfere with X-ray imaging) and can be easily removed with its zipper system after healing, eliminating the need for a potentially traumatic cast saw.
