As much as I didn’t want to make this video, it’s important for us to talk about this drought and how it affects our garden plans for the year. Some of the ways we are adapting our plans are planting more tepary beans than bush beans, skipping melons, celery, and pumpkins, and avoiding varieties of tomatoes, lettuce, squash, and corn that aren’t drought tolerant or regionally adapted. In the front range, Masa Seed Co is a great resource for climate adapted seeds. Also in CO and offering drought resistant varieties are Pueblo Seed Co, and High Desert Seeds. Native Seed Search out of AZ offers a wide variety of SW native beans, corn, and a variety of other things. Drought adapted seeds will largely fare better than their counterparts, so we’re shifting to planting more of those this year. Native plants are going to be the way to go in terms of flowers and perennials as well. We love sweet corn; it’s one of the first crops I remember eating from my grandfather’s garden and beyond it being delicious, it has sentimental value in our garden. Thankfully, there are some really tasty dwarf varieties out there that use less water and have a shorter growing season. Our favorite place to source dwarf and container varieties is Renee’s seeds, and for tomatoes, the Dwarf Tomato project has a huge number of things (but you should still check for drought resistance in dwarf varieties). The last thing we’re considering changing is the overall amount of square footage we’ll use this year. As much as it pains us to do that, we want to be responsible stewards of our little corner of land as it relates to the larger community that we’re a part of. Frankly, we’re not “real” farmers, many of whom are already feeling the stress and pressure of this. By doing our part, we can all make the best of a 💩 situation Let’s keep our collective fingers crossed for a series of March blizzards and don’t forget to water your trees and perennials while this persists. How is the drought affecting your garden plans? #denvergardening #denverdrought #growfoodnotgrass #droughtgardening #waterwisegardening

Please. Do what you can. If you have a balcony, a garden, or you control local government and can change our public parks and spaces. Please fill them with native plants, and share the space for people to grow their own food without chemicals, to step out of the system which is killing everything on the planet. Do you see the change in architecture? 💭 Harmonious spaces (white, grey & sharp angles included) - are good for the Soul. So why the push for disharmonious spaces? How does this affect humans & the life around? The last few hundred years might be one of the first moments in history where humanity has lived in prolonged disconnect from nature. We live in white cubicles both career & home, under disruptive blaring lighting, plastic decor, plastic flooring, synthetic interiors, couches with flame retardants coatings we lounge upon, destructive lawns & outdoor spaces - devoid of native plants & appreciation for the natural world. On an energetic level…what’s the impact of: •lifeless soil under our feet from the spraying of toxins through ‘lawn care products’ - no proper microbiome being able to establish •loss of creatures surrounding us from habitat destruction and weekly disturbance of the land •insect populations dwindling from the toxins we spray outdoors •artificial decor & loss of natural elements Quite literally, the frequency has dropped where masses of humans live. And that’s because of the model, not because humans are innately destructive. We can create harmony where we walk, if we choose (and are allowed). Time to get creative. This is about so much more than aesthetics. Material. This is about dwelling spaces that reflect geometric & design genius - guided by a respect, reverence, understanding & celebration of creation. The divine imprint that runs through us all. It’s no accident that when we create from this place, the spaces heal us all. People, animals, insects included. It’s by design. It was understood long ago that dwelling spaces alter our energetic state & being. And I can’t help but see the impact jumping from one cubicle and lifeless space to another - is going to do on humanity. When I see beautiful balanced spaces, I cherish them even more in these times 🦋 What are your thoughts 💭

You will not be able to unsee this flower. I’m sick and tired of seeing this everywhere — let’s plant some natives! Agapanthus may be common in urban gardens, but it is actually native to South Africa. I don't hate it as a plant I DONT LIKE HOW MUCH THERE IS. Swapping agapanthus for native flowering plants means more food and more habitat for native insects, and healthier ecosystems. In many regions it’s considered an environmental weed, spreading into bushland and replacing native plants that pollinators depend on 🐝🌿 #PollinateAU #NativeBees #Nature

It's a matter of opinion how ugly the freshly butchered crepe myrtles littering the landscape in the Southeast are at this time of year. Yet how useless they are in supporting wildlife throughout the year is pretty clear: 🐦They’re native to East Asia so birds rarely nest in them and don’t seem to want much to do with their seeds 🌸Their flowers aren’t popular with native insects 🦋They’re not a host plant for a single butterfly or moth species. 🌱🚫They’re starting to be considered invasive in part of the Southeast where they are escaping cultivation and appearing in natural areas 🪲They are a host for the invasive crepe myrtle bark scale that is starting to affect native plants such as St. John’s Wort (Hypericum) and Beautyberry (Callicarpa Americana). Even more troublesome, systemic neonicotinoid pesticides are increasingly being used to treat the affected crepe myrtles which is creating even more ecological harm to the ecosystem to keep these bizarre trees alive. 🌳Maybe this is a good time to start talking about the biodiversity that can be created by replacing crepe myrtles with small and beautifully shaped native trees that support the habitat needs of wildlife by offering cover, shelter, nesting, and food. Best of all, we won’t need to endure looking at tragically disfigured crepe myrtles anymore. How Many Butterflies and Moths Each Tree Hosts: 0 Crepe Myrtle 317 Chickasaw Plum (Prunus angustifolia) 210 Southern Crabapple (Malus angustifolia) 119 Parsley or One-flowered Hawthorn (Crataegus marshallii or uniflora) 91 Florida or Silky Dogwood (Cornus florida or amomum) 76 Serviceberry (Amelanchier) 24 Eastern redbud (Cercis canadensis) #crepemurder #crepemyrtlealternative #habitatgarden #rewilding #nurturenativenature

Invasive species are taking over the California coast and crashing native biodiversity. Calla lily valley is a great example of what happens to native plants when you allow one invasive plant to take over an entire habitat. Even tho the state park service seems to be okay with public lands being infested with invasive plants as long as they are attracting tourists. Invasive calla lilies take over riparian areas and freshwater estuaries where water connects to the ocean. These habitats are biodiversity hotspots, home to endangered species like salmon and the rare coast lily. There is no excuse to allow invasive lilies here. California is home to many rare and endangered native lilies. Now that Somone cut all the flowers at Calla Lily valley to sell or keep. We have the opportunity to have the discussion about restoration. It’s time to to turn calla Lily valley into a beautiful area home to all of California’s native lilies. Not Invasive plants. Plant native. #california #invasivespecies #nativeplants #water #plants

Revira Beach, located along the beautiful coastline of Goa, India, was once heavily polluted with plastic waste, broken fishing nets, glass bottles, and other trash washed ashore by the tides. Over time, the beach lost its natural beauty. The sand was covered with garbage, the water became unsafe, and marine life was threatened. Tourists stopped visiting, and the local community felt ashamed and concerned about the environmental damage. On March 18, 2025, a major restoration project began. Local residents, environmental volunteers, students, and community leaders came together with one goal: to bring Revira Beach back to life. The cleanup campaign lasted several weeks. Volunteers collected and separated waste for recycling, removed hazardous materials, and safely disposed of non-recyclable trash. Awareness programs were also organized to educate people about protecting the ocean and reducing plastic use. After the cleanup, new trees and native plants were planted along the shore to prevent erosion and improve the ecosystem. Recycling bins were installed, and clear signs were placed around the beach encouraging visitors to keep the area clean. The local government supported the effort by introducing regular maintenance and environmental monitoring. Today, Revira Beach is once again a peaceful and beautiful destination. The sand is clean and golden, the water is clear, and birds and marine animals have returned. Families now enjoy picnics, children play safely, and tourists visit to relax and admire the sunset. The transformation of Revira Beach is a powerful example of how community action and environmental responsibility can restore nature. It shows that when people work together, even a polluted and damaged beach can become a symbol of hope, sustainability, and new beginnings.
