too broke to travel to japan and prices of matcha have been SKY ROCKETING?! hence decided to try out one of the viral taobao brands that I’ve been seeing all over tiktok 🌟
managed to snag offday matcha’s set consisting of their two signature blends, a spoon, and a chasen (just nice because it my chasen really needed a replacement) each can is 50g so essentially 100g of matcha + all the accessories for just $35 mailed?! literally quite a steal
#1: Xu 序 7/10
✏️ I’d say I was pleasantly surprised by this blend! Upon opening was hit with a scent of nuttiness and the green was decently green (although it has some yellowness) Taste wise there was umami and slight floral notes (reminds me of jasmine tea). Wouldn’t drink it straight but as a latte it’s quite solid, not much astringency/bitterness
#2: Sen 森 5/10
✏️ This was painfully average? Not bad (not v v v bitter) but tasted super flat? Umami wasn’t v strong, tasted v mid haha; would drink this as flavoured matcha latte which helps to kind of bring the flavour out as opposed to pure latte
over all for the price point 100% would re purchase, but probably would top up slightly more and just get #1 :)
