Always liked to give them different variations to start off our first progression into block starts. I do 2pt and 3pt starts well before we start blocks but I like to use these variations to help athletes coordinate their proper power leg (left or right) and understand how to use that leg to project effectively off the blocks. This helps any new athletes have the opportunity to learn what my philosophy and expectations are going to be around executing block starts. We start with variations then progress to resistance block starts, then progress onwards to reaction and projection.🔥🔑👏🥳🤩 . . . . Sprinting is the fountain of youth. Never stop sprinting. If you want to be jacked and athletic then add them to your training! If you’re an athlete then sprinting should be a large focus of your offseason training to improve speed and power output. Speed Kills! If your someone who wants to incorporate sprints into your training after an extended period off from them then their a couple things to take into account: 1. Max effort Sprinting is extremely demanding on the body and has a high risk of injury due to the high velocity demands on the hamstrings and lower body. BUT in order to not get hurt sprinting you have to sprint! So how do you do that? Start with building up volume in your lower body by implementing “submaximal sprints”. These sub maximal sprints are done at speeds around 70% of your top sprint speed. Building up volume in your hamstrings and lower body through the use of tempo runs can be extremely beneficial to introduce your body to sprinting mechanics without the high speeds associated with it. Once you have built up a solid base through tempo runs then start by incorporating resisted sprints. These resisted sprints could be done utilizing a steep incline or hill or a sled. Adding resistance is inherently going to make your run slower (which is good early on). The added resistance will allow you to practice max intensity sprints but decrease the speeds you can reach which will condition your lower body to the increased demands of sprinting. Lastly transition into flat ground sprinting utilizing a short to long approach. Once you have built up conditioning through tempo runs and resisted sprints then transitioning to regular sprinting would be the next step. The short to long approach just means starting off with short sprints (5-15 yards) and then over time building your way up to longer sprints (20-60 yards). The shorter distances early on allow you to build up sprinting volume without reaching top speeds. Slowly increase the distance over time as you get more acclimated to it. #fitnessmotivation #fitness #gym #gymmotivation #workout #training #health #sprinting
