⁉️🔍 Watch out for these two mistakes when your child is beginning to learn to read! Avoid: ❌ using the letter names - using the letter names doesn’t work when they are learning to blend to read a word! ❌ adding the ‘uh’ onto the end of sounds…this is such an easy mistake to make because of how lots of us were taught at school ourselves What to do: ✅ ensure you use the ‘pure’ sounds when reading a word to help your child to seamlessly hear those sounds blend together to make a word! Still confused or want more support? Check out my pronunciation reels or DM me as I’d be happy to help! 😊 #phonics #phonicsounds #phonicsforpreschoolers #phonicsreading #phonicsforparents

Comment “RULES” if phonics ever confused you! Now as a free resource… this e- book will guide you through some of the common English rules The long /a/ sound has 5 spellings 👇 ✨ ai – usually in the middle, before a consonant (train, rain) ✨ ay – often at the end of a word/syllable (day, play) ✨ a-e – split digraph with a consonant inside (wave, brave) ✨ ea – rare spelling in words like steak & break ✨ a – open syllable at the end (apron, baby) That’s a LOT to remember! My Phonics Rules Book makes it simple with all the rules in one place 📖✨ Please note these are not rules for children to be taught when they first learn to read, these are for teachers or parents or adults learning English, who want support making sense of the rules. But they should not be taught to beginner readers. Comment RULES or head to www.reading-roots.com today! #phonics #phonicsrules #rules

If your child struggles to remember phonics rules… this is EXACTLY why I teach with music + movement 🎶💃 Today in class, we learned one of the trickiest phonics concepts in the cutest way: ✅ When C is followed by E, I, or Y → it often makes a soft sound like S 👉 “sip, sip, sip…” ✅ When C is followed by A, U, or O → it usually makes a hard sound “kuh” 👉 “koo, Koo, Koo…” (Exceptions apply*) So we turned it into a song: 🎵 C-E-C-I-C-Y → do → sip sip sip 🎵 C-A-C-U-C-O → do →Koo Koo Koo And you know what happens when learning becomes playful? Kids don’t just memorize… they REMEMBER. They enjoy it. They participate. They feel smart. 😍✨ Even research supports this — the more children use body movement, rhythm, voice, and expression, the more their brain holds onto learning. So if you’re a parent trying to teach phonics at home… bring in games, music, and fun — because confidence grows faster when learning feels light 💛 💬 Comment below — does your child learn better with songs and movement too? Hi, I’m Manpreet — founder of The Learners Pathway. I built TLP because I was tired of seeing kids stuck in endless tutoring cycles, losing confidence instead of gaining it. At TLP, we teach children to think, read, write, and speak with clarity — so they don’t need to depend on anyone to succeed ❤️ 📩 Join the TLP Parent Toolkit (link in bio) — free weekly tools for parents who want confident, independent learners. #confidentkids #raisingreaders #writingforkids #homeschooling #parenting
