26.3 was epic but not the only thing that got me with rhabdo I brought up my running mileage last week. I did a long bike and run on Thursday before doing the open. Was working sun up to sun down at Wodapalooza until Saturday. Am in physical therapy school. Working in the heat and probably not hydrating enough. It wasn’t until Saturday that I realized something was seriously wrong and got to the hospital. Collectively, this did a number. One thing alone wouldn’t have done it. Looking back on it, there were signs I needed to address and definitely will going forward. Nothing about rhabdo is fun or cute or “worth it” but wodapalooza was absolutely incredible as well as the open on the competition floor. Big lessons learned here and will continue to do better for myself and future patients. — Rhabdomyolysis is a severe breakdown of muscle tissue that releases high levels of creatinine kinase (CPK) into the blood stream, potentially causing kidney damage and can be life threatening Causes: extreme over exertion, physical trauma, severe dehydration/overheating, certain medications Symptoms: extreme muscle swelling/weakness/pain, dark color urine, loss of consciousness, nausea #beyondtheboat #rhabdomyolysis #crossfit

Stay steady. • Dial in your footwork – drop down, step up outside leg first, then inside, then lead over the bar with the outside leg • Relax to the floor – don’t “worm” the burpee. Lead with the chest to save your arms for the thrusters (watch to see what I mean) Small improvements here can make a big difference on the leaderboard. CrossFit Open 26.3 Workout Strategy Tips 👇🏻 It’s a burpee workout 144 in total Really important to keep the heart rate as low as possible on the burpees I would advise stepping up out of the burpee and alternating your feet every rep Staying as low as you can to the floor when you jump over the bar For the cleans I would look to go touch and go reps for the first bar and then from there fast singles for most Depending on what your barbell cycling is like Especially when it gets to that second and third barbell I would advise you to do singles On the thrusters I would break it up right from the start At the end of the day this is just how much you can suffer Last one, go out with a bang and no redos If you want warm up tips or full strategy breakdown comment “26.3” and I’ll send you it over
