We asked thousands of resistance-trained middle-aged women how many calories they consume each day in our massive Menopause Fitness Survey I was pleasantly surprised by the responses For all women, it was around 1,800 calories consumed each day This was a great response because my fear when asking this question is that the responses would have been such that the women were attempting to eat as little as possible, like around 1,200 or 1,300 calories per day We did ask other questions about dieting and how many weeks they spent in the past year in a caloric deficit, but this question was reflective of a normal day of eating And, we can be very confident in these values because the women answering the question confirmed that they track their macros on a daily basis – which means that they put intentional focus and precision on the values they provided Here were the specific calorie intakes: — PRE-Menopausal = 1,860 calories/day — PERI-Menopausal = 1,825 calories/day — POST-Menopausal = 1,741 calories/day While the Post-menopausal women did consume significantly fewer calories compared to PRE and PERI menopausal women, this makes sense because we have research which as reported that Post-menopausal women are less active on average than younger women (they need fewer calories per day) What are your thoughts about this data? Was this more calories consumed than what you would expect from resistance-trained middle aged women navigating menopause?

No two people are metabolically the same.👩🏼‍🤝‍👩🏽 You have different genes,different microbiome, different metabolic parameters. This reel is an excerpt from interview for indiatoday with So before you jump onto the bandwagon of fasting …sp because you have heard how fast it will make you drop weight ,do yourself a favour and speak to your health care provider 1st.👩🏻‍⚕️ If you have hormonal issues like diabetes, hypothyroidism (man or woman) or are peri menopausal or have pcos, you need to first figure out HOW to do IF.👩🏻‍💻 If your blood sugars are low- when I say low I mean -hypoglycemia (else low sugars are a good thing) and sp someone who gets a big drop post workout or after long hours of not eating, DO NOT do IF without guidance.🛑 If you have hypothyroidism for instance you should NOT do a ‘low cal’ plan ,which easily happens on IF.🍽️ This can actually increase your cortisol levels,cause inflammation and disrupt you thyroid metabolism. 🤕🤒 Can this cohort of patients do IF- the answer is almost always yes, BUT only under medical guidance else you can actually trigger autoimmune conditions- and give IF a bad name:) Stay informed. Part 1 of managing your hair I have pcos & I’m peri menopausal so hair fall and hair growth become and issue. I’ve had to be very conscious of my food etc to be honest. I don’t take any hair gummies or hair specific supplements. However supplements if you have a nutritional deficiency is different. Will cover it in this series to explain this better Products: truthfully if the issue is from an internal deficiency then focusing on which shampoo to use is a waste of time. So I’m going to give you my cheat sheet and it’s going to take more than 1 post !! Hair growth is dependent on multiple factors and in a short series I’m going to give you this cheat sheet Part 1 is protein intake Ideally we are looking at 1 GM of Protein per kg of body weight In this series I’ll bring up collagen too so make sure you have your notifications turned on Now : protein 1 GM is the recommended amount if you have no health complications When you get enough protein your hair will thrive. If you’re eating enough protein your body will make the collagen it needs. Most people in india aren’t even reaching 0.5 gms per kg from what I see. Changing this alone will cause changes in hair growth and reduce hair fall too. And you’ll see improved skin apart from improved energy levels. With this I would like to include water intake. Ideally 2 to 3 lts a day Like everything in health it is not one-size-fits all It will change based on various conditions So if you fall in any of these categories please just drop me a dm - post menopause /andropause (male menopause) - BMI shows as obese or overweight - If you are trying to lose over 10 kgs - Have high uric acid levels or high creatinine levels - Pregnant - Lactating - Have any known kidney issues - Have pitting edema - when you press down on your skin near ankle and it stays compressed and the skin doesn’t bounce back for a while In all these cases we needed to check on various aspects before recommending protein intake This is part one and I’ll cover multiple real aspects that will help you. 📌I am going to share with you a secret today Caloric deficit won’t do a thing in peri menopause until you do these 3 things prior to that. 🙌🏼 1. gut Dysbiosis 🦠 Meaning the amount of good bacteria you have in your gut be the bad ones are in imbalance. This is due to the food choices you make and lifestyle in general. The goal is to grow the good bacteria that can remove excess hormones and metabolites from your circulation and excrete those without making them free again and directly becoming a source of stubborn belly fat. Depending on what the cause is for your gut dysfunction, the strain of bacteria differs. Hence this is not a one size fits for all approach. 2. Brining inflammation down🤷‍♀️ Most women that are peri menopausal or over the age of 30 are in chronic inflammation. They don’t even know what it is feels like not be in one. Inflammation keeps your cortisol production elevated and this can slow down your progress and can even keep you stuck. What causes inflammation in you could not be what causes inflammation in your friend or husband. For some it is milk, some others it is gluten or avocados or cruciferous veggies . 3. Estrogen Dominance🌹 This circle back to point number 1. Not having good gut bacteria. Estrogen dominance or not enough progesterone is the main cause of belly fat . So no amount of ab exercises and cardio will fix this. ☹️This is why all the free guides you purchase is not fixing anything and you keep staying in this never ending loop.
