Red flag 🚩 If your periods are irregular and/or are straight up missing, this is a BIG warning sign that things are amiss inside your body. Hormones are a secondary response. Meaning, if something is awry with your brain (let’s say, pituitary) you will have period problems. If something is awry with your gut, you are likely to have period problems. If something is awry with your blood sugar, you are likely to have period problems. If your caloric intake is too low, you are likely to have period problems. If your body is constantly in a fight or flight mode, you are likely to have period problems. See what I’m getting at here. Your body is giving you warning signs, and likely has for sometime. Unfortunately, our society normalizes period problems. So now we have a bunch of young girls and women walking around suffering from period problems. We can do better. I’m here for all your period, cycle, and hormones related education and tips 😘 Rooting for you!

Back with some education content after a crazy 5 days. I’m ready for some normalcy so I’m starting with a fibre series because 80% of you said you don’t believe you are eating enough fibre when I did a poll a few weeks ago. I always talk about the importance of protein, however now I’m switching the lime light to fibre because it’s often not spoken about. Your gut microbiome is directly linked to oestrogen metabolism, and if you’re constipated or not consuming enough fibre, your gut can’t properly eliminate excess hormones. So what happens? Acne Flare-Ups → If your body isn’t efficiently clearing out oestrogen, it gets reabsorbed instead of eliminated. This excess oestrogen triggers sebum (oil) production, leading to clogged pores and hormonal acne—especially around the jawline and chin. Mood Swings & Anxiety → Your gut is home to the estrobolome—a collection of gut bacteria responsible for metabolising oestrogen. If your microbiome is out of balance (hello, bloating & constipation), it can disrupt oestrogen levels and interfere with serotonin & dopamine production—leading to mood swings and anxiety. PMS & Period Problems → When oestrogen levels are too high relative to progesterone, it can lead to heavier periods, painful cramps, bloating, breast tenderness, and mood swings. Fiber binds to excess oestrogen in the gut and helps eliminate it through waste, preventing that monthly hormonal rollercoaster. 💡 Quick Fix: Add 1-2 Tbsp of ground flaxseeds daily—one of the best hormone-supporting fiber sources that also provides lignans to help balance oestrogen levels. Comment or DM RSVP to save your spot. 3 Common Mineral Imbalances I See With Period Problems: When I say period problems I think things like PMS, period pain, heavy periods, headaches, and migraines. I’ve seen hundreds of hair tissue mineral analysis (HTMA) tests over the years and there are a few common themes with these main concerns: 1️⃣High or low cobalt: this is often a sign of poor stomach acid production as well as liver stress (the two typically go together). This can impact digestion, estrogen detox, and the immune system, making it a perfect recipe for inflammation in the body. 2️⃣High copper: this can lead to many different issues, but let’s highlight two specifically—excess copper gets stored in the liver, which can disrupt the many important functions. Copper can also impact our estrogen levels and vice versa. More estrogen can lead to an imbalance in estrogen and progesterone, which is a major driver of period problems. 3️⃣High zinc: this is often a sign that the body is using up more zinc (unless someone is supplementing). Our zinc needs increase with inflammation, which is common with period problems as well as gut issues or any injuries in the body. My favorite way to test minerals is through HTMA to get a look at the last few months as well as someone’s current stress response. You can learn SO much from an HTMA. We use this test with all of our clients and it’s the one lab that allowed me to get past the estrogen dominant symptoms that I chased for years.
