IVThere are many reasons to do PGT-A testing on embryos, and these are just a few.
Pre-implantation Genetic Screening (PGS), now often referred to as PGT-A (Preimplantation Genetic Testing for Aneuploidy), is a procedure used during in vitro fertilization (IVF) to identify embryos with the correct number of chromosomes.
And according to my IVF doctor, the health of the chromosomes is more important than the embryo grade - so don’t get too stuck on that.
After one round of IVF and the transfer of one embryo, I had my first baby at 47 years old. And she was a 3BC grade embryo. And she’s healthy in every way.
I knew I didn’t have a lot of time for failed transfers or pregnancies that ended in miscarriage, so I opted for the testing to make sure I had all the information to make an informed decision.
And here we are. Baby girl is active and healthy and happy. This season of life is the biggest blessing yet.

PGT (Preimplantasyon Genetik Tanı), tüp bebek tedavisi sırasında elde edilen embriyolardan transfer öncesinde alınan hücrelerin genetik olarak incelenmesi işlemidir. Bu yöntem sayesinde embriyolardaki kromozom sayısal veya yapısal bozukluklar tespit edilebilir ve genetik açıdan sağlıklı olduğu düşünülen embriyolar seçilerek rahme transfer edilir.
Ancak PGT, ileri yaşta olan her hastada mutlaka uygulanması gereken bir yöntem değildir. Uygulanıp uygulanmayacağı; hastanın yaşı, önceki gebelik ve düşük öyküsü, elde edilen embriyo sayısı ve kalitesi ile genel sağlık durumu göz önünde bulundurularak hekim tarafından değerlendirilir. Tedavi süreci kişiye özel planlanmalıdır.

ISPGT stands for Post Graduate Teacher and is the highest level of school teaching. PGT teachers usually teach Classes 11 and 12 and specialize in a specific subject such as English, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Economics, History, or Political Science.
Master’s Degree: A Post Graduate degree (M.A., M.Sc., or M.Com.) in the subject you intend to teach is essential.
B.Ed. Degree: A Bachelor of Education or an equivalent degree is mandatory for teaching positions.
Academic Percentage: Generally, a minimum of 50% marks is required in both graduation and post-graduation.
Age Limit: The maximum age limit for PGT candidates is usually 40 years, though this varies by institution and category relaxations.
Certification: While not always required for PGT, clearing the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) Paper-II or relevant State TET can be necessary for some positions.
Subject Expertise: Candidates must have studied the subject they wish to teach at the post-graduation level.
Language Proficiency: You must be proficient in teaching in both English and Hindi.
Optional Credentials: A Master of Education (M.Ed.) or prior teaching experience at the senior secondary level can strengthen your application.
After completing these qualifications, you can apply for government teaching vacancies through recruitment bodies. Some schools may also require qualification in CTET or State TET, depending on the recruitment rules.
Most schools conduct written exams followed by interviews and demo for selection.

After our third egg retrieval, we sent 9 embryos for PGT-A testing. Yesterday I shared how hard that report phone call was.
0 euploid.
1 low-level mosaic.
Watching myself change the board felt surreal. Like writing something I still don’t fully understand or accept yet.
I don’t know what the next step is. I don’t know what the future holds. Right now I’m just letting myself grieve what I hoped this round would be.

LUTrue story. Early in my career, I had a 43-year-old IVF patient who made a choice I seldom see. For cost reasons, she declined PGT and wanted a fresh transfer. I counseled her extensively, but she understood the tradeoffs and insisted. I followed ASRM guidance for her age group and transferred 3 unscreened blastocysts to counteract the assumed age related egg quality issues. And …she got pregnant with triplets and had three babies. A shocking/unlikely outcome—can’t make it up! Miraculously, all were healthy, born close to term. Not a common outcome, and a case that kept me up at night for months after that first scan.
Twins or triplets are not the goal. The goal is one healthy baby at a time. Multifetal pregnancies are automatically higher risk for both parent and babies, with much higher rates of prematurity (twins are about 6X more likely) plus increased risks like high blood pressure disorders, gestational diabetes, and delivery complications.
So how do multiples happen after fertility treatment? With IVF, the main driver is transferring more than one embryo. When embryos are not PGT-tested, clinics may transfer more because many embryos, especially over 38, are genetically abnormal. ASRM permits up to three blastocysts over age 42 since a large proportion (often 70–80%) may be chromosomally abnormal. Without PGT, we assume some embryos may be abnormal… sometimes we “overshoot” and end up with twins or triplets.
Even with single embryo transfer, identical twins can happen if the embryo splits (about a 2% risk). In my practice, about 99% of transfers are single embryo transfers.
With ovulation induction for timed intercourse or IUI, meds like clomid or letrozole can lead to more than one egg ovulating, raising twin risk to about 3–8% depending on age, egg quality, sperm quality, and number of follicles. That’s why we monitor closely and may cancel if too many mature follicles develop.
We take calculated risks where appropriate. If using PGT or donor eggs from donors under 38, only one embryo should be transferred. 💜 I was SO relieved this case ended up ok, but whew, I gained a few grey hairs. 🫤

❌❌However… In India, sex selection (choosing the gender of a baby) is illegal under the law called the Pre‑Conception and Pre‑Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PCPNDT) Act, 1994.
👉Complete ban on sex selection
• Sex selection before conception (for example during IVF or sperm sorting) is prohibited.
• Sex determination after conception (for example via ultrasound or genetic testing just to know gender) is also illegal. 
The law was introduced to prevent female foeticide and gender imbalance in India.

Bilemiyoruz artık bence erkek🙈 Neyse Aliş için ikinci tüp bebek sürecine karar verdim. Gecenlerde donmuş embriyolarımdan birini çözdürüp transfer ettirdim.🙃
Transfer süreci bir tüp bebek annesi için en karmasık ve heyecanlı dönem. İçine insan tanesini gönderiyorlar, fotoğrafını da çekip eline veriyorlar sonra bekleyeceksin 9 gün sonra test vereceksin ve öğreneceksin hamile misin değil misin diyorlar ? Bol şans insallah tutunur dıyorlar.🙏🏼🥹Tabi normal gebeliklerde siz bu süreci hiç anlamayıp normal hayatlarınızda yaşıyorsunuz ama tüp bebek anneleri ya bebek içimdeyse diyip hayatındaki belli rutinlerine dikkat etmeye, belki bazı şeyleri değiştirmeye calısıyor hemde ya içimde değilse en iyisi çokta kaptıramayayım kendımı diyip unutmaya çalışıyor 😌
