JSHere’s some of the worst shooting advice coaches have been telling players for years
Shooting myth number 1 - “you shouldn’t dip the basketball.” this is false. Not only does dipping the basketball help you gain power and rhythm before the shot, but many of the great shooters do it
Shooting myth number 2 - “your feet have to be squared to the rim.” This is not the case, as some players prefer a tilted stance because it lines their body to the rim more naturally and allows for better aiming when shooting then basketball
Shooting myth number 3 - “All thumb flicks are bad” This is not the truth as some thumb flicks don’t negatively affect the shot. Thumb flicks are only bad if they alter the direction of your jumpers, cause poor rotation, or cause you to miss a majority of your jumpers
