💡 Honest Takeaways: 1. PLAB: Faster, cheaper, easier to start before internship, but mainly for UK. 2. USMLE: Hardest but most globally recognized, perfect if you dream of the US. 3. AMC: Balanced option for Australia; clinical experience is mandatory. ⚠️ Pro Tip: Don’t just chase the “most popular” exam. Think about your dream country, budget, timeline, and stress tolerance before committing. So, before you start endless prep: ask yourself — “Where do I actually want to live and work?” The rest will follow. ✈️💉 #australia #usa #uk #usmle #plab

When we first started thinking about PLAB, we were obsessed with just one thing — the exam PLAB. Looking back now, we realise how much time and stress we could have saved if someone had told us a few hard truths earlier. So here’s what we wish someone forced us to do before starting PLAB 👇 ⸻ 1️⃣ Think beyond the exam PLAB is important, yes. But it’s not the finish line — it’s just the entry point. We wish we understood earlier that jobs, CVs, audits, QIPs, attachments matter just as much as passing an exam. ⸻ 2️⃣ Start CV building early We delayed CV work thinking, “I’ll do it after PLAB.” Big mistake. Audits, QIPs, teaching, courses — these take time. Starting slowly early is way easier than rushing later. ⸻ 3️⃣ Learn about NHS culture sooner We had no idea about: • reflections • audits vs QIPs • clinical governance • teamwork & communication focus Understanding this early changes how you prepare. ⸻ 4️⃣ Apply for clinical attachments without waiting We waited because we thought we weren’t “ready”. Truth? Rejections are part of the process. One yes can change everything — but only if you start early. ⸻ 5️⃣ Prepare mentally for uncertainty Nobody tells you how lonely this journey can feel. Friends move on. Life doesn’t look “settled”. Plans keep changing. We wish we knew earlier that feeling lost is normal, not a sign to quit. ⸻ 6️⃣ Plan finances realistically PLAB is not just exam fees. It’s travel, stays, documents, courses, visas. Even rough planning early reduces a lot of anxiety later. ⸻ We’re still learning, still correcting our mistakes, still figuring things out. But we’re sharing this so you don’t realise these things too late like we did. If you’re just starting — take it slow, but start smart. ✨ Save this — it’s a checklist you’ll come back to. 👉 Share this with someone preparing for PLAB. 👉 Follow our journey — two doctors learning the hard way and sharing it honestly.

Confused about How to Study for Plab Part 1: I Recently cleared my plab 1 and these are the resources I personally used :🧑🏽‍⚕️🩺 Recommended Resources to Study 📚 1) Plab Keys 🩻 : Plab keys have all the summarised notes of each subject - I recommend that if you have time - you start studying with these 2) Plabable 🥼is the Main thing for plab And for everyone asking Yes , Plabable is more than Enough ♥️ You cannot go wrong with plabable 3) Plabable Gems💎: If you have enough time I would recommend going over the gems as well , it has new information according to the NICE guidelines , so you don’t have to read those separately 🫶 4) Plabable Mocks 🧑🏽‍⚕️👩🏽‍⚕️:if you’re scoring above 85% in the mocks, you will clear the exam so I do recommend giving as many as possible . In my example the questions were direct copies of my mock questions 5) Big Mocks 🙇‍♀️ : Give a minimum of 1 big mock . It’s a good practise of how you stand to do in the exam 6) Med Revision🏥 : I did try it and it’s a good resource however In my opinion Plabable and Plab keys is more than enough 🩵 Remember 🩵 You can do it 🍀💪 If you have any questions , just give me a dm ☀️ #plab #plab1 #plab2 #plabexam #doctor #nhsdoctor #doctorsofinstagram #internationalmedicalgraduate #nhs #fmge #fmgeindia #doctorlife #juniordoctor #juniordoctors #nhsjobs #doctorsofindia #medicos #neetpg2024 #neet2024 #neetpgexam #mbbsdoctor #doctorsofpakistan #nhsuk #indiandoctors #medstudent #mbbsnotes #mbbsstudy #medstudy

What to do after you are done with PLAB-1, while you wait for your results? After completing PLAB-1 while waiting for the results, there are several productive activities and steps that aspiring medical professionals can undertake: Rest up. Take a chill pill. You’ve worked hard for your PLAB-1. Youll have to work hard for PLAB-2. So meanwhile rest well. Restart your clinical job: If possible, try continuing your clinical jobs. The lesser gaps you have, the better! Work on your CV/ resume: Prepare one. You’re gonna need this to apply for clinical attachments and stuff. Watch youtube, watch reels and understand the CV templates. Start enhancing your CV/ resume: Attend some online courses. Get certifications. Do some volunteer works and get more certifications. Watch my CV resume reels in my highlights for more information on this. Study for PLAB-2: Choose an academy. Watch their youtube videos and read their notes, understand which one suits you the best. Explore. Financial Planning: Take the time to assess your financial situation and plan accordingly for the expenses and explore options for financial support. If you are financially stable, well and good. But if not, start saving up. Do not put a bulk amount into your VISA account, transfer the money slowly and gradually. Visa Application Process: If you have your finances ready, begin the visa application process. Familiarize yourself with the visa requirements. Network with Peers: Engage with other PLAB candidates and share insights, and exchange study resources. Also find your study partners for your PLAB-2. Stay Positive and Patient: Waiting for exam results can be a stressful period. Stay positive, maintain confidence in your abilities, and trust in the preparation you have done for PLAB-1. By engaging in these activities, you can make the most of the waiting period after completing PLAB-1 while also enhancing your skills and readiness for PLAB-2 and beyond. #plab #plab1 #nhsdoctors

After passing PLAB 2, so many IMGs make the mistake of relaxing too much or waiting around instead of planning their next steps. This is the most important time to work on your GMC registration, build your NHS portfolio, and start applying for jobs. Wasting these months can delay your career progression massively. Use this time wisely—your future self will thank you. - - - - #PLAB2 #PLABJourney #IMGDoctors #IMGJourney #IMGtoNHS #FMG #InternationalDoctors #MedLife #DoctorLife #FutureDoctor #NHSUK #UKDoctors #MedInUK #DoctorGoals #MedInspiration #ResidencyAbroad #MedCareer #MedStudentLife #MedSchoolJourney #StudyMedicine #DoctorMotivation #LifeOfADoctor #MedLifeBalance #DoctorDreams #NextGenDoctors #GlobalDoctors #HealthcareHeroes #UKMedicine #DoctorsOfInstagram #MedicalJourney

* MY PLAB 1 PREPARATION * First things first - different people have different ways/strategies of studying, so follow what suits you best ! 🤓 Above is the way I proceeded with my prep. After having discussed with a few people who passed PLAB 1 quite recently, this strategy still does work. 😄 I simply used Plabable and Plabkeys - no other resources whatsoever (bought subscription for both). I felt it was all about constantly revising again and again, and AGAIN ! That's the key ! 📚 Keep in mind that this exam should NOT be underestimated, prepare for it properly. It's not difficult, but does require substantial preparation. Regarding the time frame, I feel if you're able to dedicate about 4-5 hours each day to studying, about 4-5 months is good enough for the total prep. I did only a couple of Plabable mock tests cause I personally (for any exam) benefit more from revising rather than doing mocks, however for this exam, I feel doing all the mocks would greatly boost your exam performance. Try to hit a score of 80-85% in the mocks. Regarding the Big Mock (of Plabable), well it's totally upto you whether you want to take it or not. One of my friends had taken it, and he liked it, however he found the questions a bit too hard and more difficult compared to what came in the actual exam. Since I didn't want to get bogged down and lower my confidence, I avoided that. In short, as long as you're determined, give adequate efforts in a dedicated manner without underestimating the exam, and CONSTANTLY KEEP REVISING, you should be able to pass comfortably ! ✊ All the best !! 😊👍 Cheers ! ✌ #plab #plab1 #plabable #plabkeys #plabpreparation #ukmla #ukdoctor #img

- PLAB 2 Resources that I used - But here’s the most important thing. Always try to just read and understand notes. No notes are complete and final and if you have any doubts about anything, make sure you check that from NICE CKS. Online lectures and academies do help but in the end, it’s also about how much you have studied and practiced by yourself. Having a good study partner and practicing as much as you can is very important. That’s the only thing which can help you with the interpersonal skills (IPS) part. And most importantly, try to keep the consultation flow as real as possible. Give at least 3-4 months to yourself to prepare for the exam. And make sure you have good grip on practical parts too. These are the resources and notes that I used for my preparation. So these are the only things I know about. There might be other helpful resources as well. So you can choose what seems right to you according to your ease. . . . #instagram #insta #plab #plabexam #plab2 #ukmla #uk #medical #medicine #doctor #doctors #exam #medicaleducation #medicalexam
