JUI remember my Dad teaching me to play backgammon and playing with my Grandma who had taught him, and I now look forward to teaching my own children how to play 😂 Playing together is the joy of @jaquesoflondon toys and games, they are beautifully made traditional games that can be enjoyed by all generations now and in the future too. 🎲

Son showroom est un lieu unique pour les amateurs de jeux et de beaux objets. Le backgammon est sa spécialité, mais on y découvre aussi des jeux de cartes, dominos, pistes de dés, coffrets d’échecs…🎲
Chaque commande est préparée avec soin pour créer une pièce unique, faite à Paris, dans la plus pure tradition artisanale.
Un véritable héritage familial qui modernise et rafraîchit l’univers du jeu, livré dans le monde entier 🌍

IRWhen an Indian scholar invented chess, he presented it to the King of India. The King of India then sent chess to Iran, in a way to show off his scholars to the Iranians. The King of Iran 🇮🇷 , Anushirvan Khosrow, ordered his wisest minister, Bozorgmehr, to create a game as well. The Iranian minister, who was one of the great scholars, created the beautiful game of Backgammon (Takhte Nard).
The philosophy and symbolism of Backgammon:
• 30 pieces: represent the 30 days of a month
• 24 squares: represent the 24 hours of a day
• 4 sections of the board: represent the 4 seasons of the year
• 5 rounds of play: represent the 5 times of day (prayers/periods)
• 2 colors (black and white): night and day
• Each side has 12 squares: the 12 months of the year
• The board itself: the Earth
• The playing field: the sky
• The dice: the stars of fate and fortune
• The roll of the dice: the passage of time
• The pieces: human beings
