JAMy 5 tips for my polys adding running on top of their gym routine:
1. Stop trying to run like someone half your size
Long strides and bouncing will cook your knees.
Shorter stride, quicker cadence, relaxed upper body.
2. Keep training heavy in the gym with intent.
Squat. Hinge. Lunge.
2–3 solid sessions a week keeps joints resilient and running sustainable.
3. Use off-feet cardio to build your engine
Bike. Row. Ski.
We’re heavier by nature so that’s more force per step. Build the engine without beating up your joints.
4. Start slower than your ego wants to.
You’ll feel fit because you’re strong but that doesn’t mean your tendons are ready. Build your base in Zone 2/ conversational pace. Speed comes after capacity.
5. Add kms gradually.
Don’t jump from 0 to 40km weeks. Progress volume slowly.
Let your body catch up.
We’re not built for one lane
